We’ve lived in the area for 8 years but have never visited The Eagle. We went there on a Saturday night for dinner and found it to be a bit of a gem. …

We stopped in at the Eagle House on our LEJOG bike trip. We were greeted by Terri who was so accommodating and lovely. We were able to store our bikes indoors in a secured area. The room was really spacious with a very comfortable bed. We had a very good meal here with the best salad we’ve had so far in England, good whitebait and a delicious chicken burger. Didn’t have room for the sticky toffee pudding but our table side neighbours very much enjoyed theirs. Breakfast was generous, made to order eggs and very delicious. The view from the bar patio is really nice too.I would stay here again.

This wonderful old building is slowly being restored, so it still has some flaws (see door frame photo), but our stay was lovely. The welcoming staff showed us to a charming room - but somehow we failed to make the TV work.  …

The staff here are amazing, very friendly and helpful. The room we had was nice, although it was summer and the small portable AC Air/con unit was insufficient to keep the room cool. I would not use this hotel in the summer, but would for other times of the year.Yes the rooms are old and the floors uneven and creaky, but that is the charm of an hotel built 1765 or eight years before American independence. The restaurant food was, just okay. Frozen fish and frozen chips, it was okay, but nothing special, think of pub grub and that's what you get.Breakfast was great, they also offer a great Vegetarian English breakfast.

What a perfect place to start the vacation. The owner and the staff were just incredible, met us with so much warm. Love this old building and the history told by the owner. The passion when she told us about the gin history and give us glasses for tasting. Marvellous. Steak for dinner is 6 out of 6 Stop by and you wil have a richer life :)With love :)

Thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at Eagle House. It is a beautiful historic building situated at the foot of Launceston Castle. Views of the castle on one side and rolling valleys on the other, sitting on the terrace in the evening was a real highlight. Bar and restaurant are both excellent but open for limited hours. The building and rooms are in need of some TLC but otherwise a great stay.

Very nice up market hotel a converted grandhouse. Beautiful. architecture interiors designed to match. It was a very comfortable stay, well appointed room. Lots of parking, does have that "no lift" issue, be aware the upper floors could be a problem. The restaurant was solid, but pretty limited menu. Standard breakfast included, cooked to order. Solid local option.Wi fi secure.
