One of my favourite pubs on this coast line. Dinner and breakfast were really good, the room I shared with my son was cute and spacious enough for the 2 of us. Walks from the pub are awesome, with a lovely walk down to the beach. Looking forward to coming back.

Second time we’ve stayed after a night in September 23. We stayed at the Old Smithy for a night in June 24. The welcome was friendly and we were shown to our room for the night. Compact but containing everything we needed for a very comfortable nights stay. Lovely shower and comfy bed! We also had a sea view and saw a lovely sunset. Breakfast in the morning was tasty and all cooked to order, with a special mention for the two sausages that were cooked for our dogs which made their day! Thank you, we’ll be back!

I came across this place after being let down by an Airbnb and I am so so so glad I did.It is absolutely everything you could want. The rooms are cosy and spacious. The beds are comfy. The dog friendliness is second to none. The breakfast offering exceeded expectations. The staff and locals don’t feel anything like strangers. The menu is impressive, and the food quality cannot be faulted. The areas outside of the room/lodge building are cosy and secure enough to relax with a child indoors nearby and with a trained dog off lead.Beach is about 20 mins away and there is free parking on Downs View in Bude, dog friendly beach a 5 min walk away.I booked 2 nights and after the first night I booked a 3rd. I can’t wait to come back in autumn and next year.An absolute gem of a place I’m so happy I found.

We spent 2 nights at the old smithy inn on the Early May bank holiday weekend, room looked nice and cozy in pictures but when we got there, the room was not very clean, especially the bathroom which still had a lot of hair from previous guests. The bedroom had a lot of bugs and spiderwebs, plus spiders around the windows. Definitely the room needs a deep clean.Staff was friendly, but we waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for our breakfast to be served.I do not recommend their accommodation, but the pub and garden are nice for a short stop.

Myself and my other half and our two dogs had the pleasure of staying at the Old Smithy Inn for a couple of nights this week and we would recommend it to anyone, we had a lovely warm welcome on arrival and were shown to our room, the room itself is compact but has everything you need, the bathroom is clean, bright and airy with a wonderful powerful shower, the bed is is incredibly comfortable and has lovely clean fresh good quality bed linen and extra blankets if needed, plenty of sockets, hairdryer and a well stocked tea/ coffee tray, there is also a lovely little balcony where you can sit, chill and watch the sun set after a lovely day enjoying the stunning area. The location itself is perfect, a pretty little village that’s lovely and quiet, even with the velux windows open overnight ( it was quite a warm night when we stayed) it was lovely and peaceful and we had a good nights sleep. The beer garden is kept beautifully with flowers and plants everywhere, Everyone we met, both staff and regulars at the pub, were lovely and made us feel at home, the pub is incredibly dog friendly and the staff were happy for us to have the dogs in the bar area and breakfast area, the meals themselves were all really delicious, well cooked and good quality ingredients, and my other half sampled several of the beers all of which he said were very good, even the dogs were spoilt with sausage at breakfast! An absolute gem of a place that we will be happy to return to.
