Wonderful hotel, amazingly friendly staff, who go the extra mile. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. We ate at the hotel on two evenings and the food was absolutely wonderful, we did send our compliments to the chef. …

We stayed here for the week whilst visiting on business and I cannot reccomend this hotel enough! Absolutely lovely staff and Vicky the receptionist was very accommodating when I mentioned my shower button was stuck. The rooms are very clean, spacious and quiet.Food: 10/10 one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in a hotel and sent compliments to the chef! Full English buffet along with continental options and there more than happy to cook eggs on request. Dinner service was exceptional!Service: 10/10 if I could score higher I would! So polite and accommodating and very cheerful.Rooms: spacious, clean, quiet, if your like me and prefer having your phone by your bed you have two outlets either side and the you have numerous lights depending on what you'd prefer. You also have a reading light above the bed which is lovely. The beds are comfy with 4 pillows plus an extra blanket! Lots of storage and coat hooks. They also provide a fan which I thought was lovely. There is also a lift. They also have a charming courtyard with a lovely water feature and seating. If your staying on the top floor they have an easy accessible roof top terrace. All the lights in the corridors and outside are motion censored.Overall an amazing stay and will definitely re book if I'm visiting again! Oh not to mention the Abbey which is just beautiful to walk around 😊Thank you for a lovely stay!

This hotel is owned by the Abbey, so there are crucifixes in the rooms and the lobby. But there is no religious requirement or expectation to stay there. Please note that one cannot see the abbey from the hotel. It is a short walk, across a street, to get to the abbey. It is also a short walk to San Benedetto the Pizza restaurant, also owned by the Abbey. Well worth trying. The parking lot is near the entrance and there is an elevator for upstairs rooms. We had room #114 which looked out to the side property. Our room was large, with a queen sized bed. There was a lot of storage space with several drawers and a wardrobe. Plugs were easily accessible for charging devices. The bathroom had a large walk in shower with a rain shower head. Plenty of hot water. A Towel warmer with large towels, and hand towels. No washcloths. There were small vials of body wash and shampoo. No conditioner.Room was made up daily.Restaurant on site for dinner, and also for the included breakfast. Breakfast was self serve, with many choices. Fresh yogurt with fruit compote and muesli, cereals, pastries, croissants as well as hot choices for eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans, etc as well as bread for toast. Coffee, tea and juice.Very comfortable and affordable which is conveniently located to the highway, yet away from any type of road noise.

A fabulous little hotel beautifully maintained, spotless with very friendly and obliging staff. It suited us perfectly being so close to the A38 and our family in Buckfast. We would highly recommend breaking a long journey south here. You’re guaranteed a comfortable nights stay!

Very comfortable stay, friendly and helpful staff and lovely setting. We have been to the Northgate on many occasions over the last ten years and always enjoy our stay. There are nice walks in the grounds and further afield. A restaurant is onsite for breakfast and dinner, and there are gift shops in close proximity to the hotel.
