Stayed here midweek and got lucky with the weather, absolutely loved the hotel not because it was particularly modern or full of mod cons but because the staff were so friendly and attentive from the young girl that checked us in through to the barman and the chef who fed us in the evening and morning, situated about a third of the way down our room had views across the village to the sea with a balcony for good measure. Will hopefully be back one day.

Perfect stay at The New Inn, great ciders. As suggested by the bar lady the local Sam’s cider was delicious. We had the lasagna and fish and chips, huge portions you won’t go home hungry. …

I stayed here for 3 nights on a solo trip. The staff couldn't have been more lovely to me. Sandra served the breakfast service, which was fast and welcoming. Coral cooked exquisite meals in the kitchen using locally sourced products. …

Do visitors of Clovelly a favour. Don’t advertise you serve food all day outside your door, only to find out ‘we missed your lunch window’ by 3 minutes after drinks were poured. After travelling 45 miles to visit Clovelly, we got that answer back which left a bad taste with us.Thank god The Cottage Tea room were very welcoming and do serve food all day.Visitors of Clovelly - carry on down the path a little further and you won’t regret it or the view.

Avoid the New Inn at all cost!! We were booked in for 2 nights but could only stand 1! ||On our arrival, the common areas of the hotel stank of old chip fat and the bar area smelt like a public toilet. …

The New Inn is in a lovely location but they charge a premium because of this. We stayed for one night and found the breakfast disappointing, with overcooked fried eggs and one small slice of bacon which was obviously cooked a lot earlier and was rubbery. Our room was tiny but comfortable, however it was not en suite.

Popped in for dinner and drinks only, so can't comment on rooms. Having also visited the only other watering hole in the village, I can safely say this was the place with the better atmosphere and where I decided to eat as a table for 1. Barman was literally doing everything, checking hotel guests in, taking food and drink orders, serving hot and cold drinks, bringing out food. I had the special, pan fried hake, which was excellent. Go here if you are staying overnight
