I felt like Goldilocks coming here. Our first hotel was too cold, the next too hot but this one was just perfect. We arrived in thick mist and pouring rain so going out wasn't an option.  …

Stayed for two nights and it was lovely! We were a big party and they were all so accommodating and couldn’t do more for us! Shout out to Rosie who served us at dinner and breakfast! She was just absolutely lovely and easily the highlight of the whole team! She was so well mannered and have a glowing, positive attitude! Samuel on bar was also absolutely lovely! So well educated on his drinks and even at the end of the night, he still had so much time and patience for us even when he was probably ready to go home! The hotel is so lucky to have these members of staff as part of their team! Hotel was so clean, tidy and unique! Food was delicious. Overall, very happy!!

I found The Moorland while I was searching online for a Doggy Friendly Hotel, and found they were running an offer called Relax & Paws which was dinner, bed and breakfast. It seemed meant to be! …

Wonderful place to return to and to be so near to the Haytor rocks and paths. The amazing Dyson hairdryer made short work of rain-swept hair after a short walk. Everything perfect in the room; a delightful dinner, beautifully served, and a piano player! Breakfast in welcome sunshine then another walk. Again please!

The hotel is fantastic, well kept and very pleasant, literally across the road from the moors. It is dog friendly, and a good place to bring them. |Our room was a twin, a good size with a modern well maintained and clean ensuite. …

WiFi was not adequate. We have stayed here before and enjoyed it. However we paid more for a "superior room". Disappointed with the position of the room.View of the fire escape and a flat roof over outbuildings, no view of the moor. A minor point, only one coffee cup and one glass for a double room!

The hotel is located about 1000ft above sea level with direct access to the moor. The staff are nice and friendly serving good food. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Dogs and muddy boots are catered for. There is no lift facility at present.

we had three in total. There are extensive gardens at the back . There are great views of the moors . The dinner was good. We could have spent more time here . The shower was nice and the bathrooms were big . The room temperature could not be controlled ,however - seemed to be central . Attractive facade of the Hotel , pleasing ambience

Fabulous place in a fantastic location. Great food, great service. Only a couple of tiny niggles: Be VERY careful to bring photo ID if you hope to use the free birthday meal offers. No PHOTO ID, no meal! Also my wife was a little wary of the room whish looked over the garden, but had no net curtain, so as it was hot and we had the curtains and window open, we felt a bit exposed getting out of bed in the mornings.
