Fantastic takeaway - brilliant vindaloo - probably one of the best I have had. Lovely Naan breads...good portions. Got to say one of the better Indian restaurants in the area.

Absolutely awful service!!!! Do not recommend using Banaras if you want a decent curry.Have used this establishment for over 4 years when it was known as Taj, as regular customers we didn’t question trying the new ownership.Ordered a takeaway over the phone and the man on the phone hardly spoke a word of English, which wouldn’t have been a problem if he was polite. We’re patient people & We repeated the order about 10 times and checked he’d got it correct in the end. After 2 & a half hours of waiting for the food to be delivered we rang and asked how long it would be, it took another half an hour to arrive. When it arrived it was a completely different order! We phoned straight away to be greeted with the same person who couldn’t understand what we were saying, kept trying to get us to order more food (and pay for it) he couldn’t understand at all that the food we had paid for isn’t here and it’s the wrong order! We had to speak to the delivery driver in the end to translate & we asked for a refund. The manager then got involved and said give me my food back then… which we gladly did because it wasn’t the food we ordered! Shock to find 5 days later still no refund! Had to go in tonight to request the refund in person which they still argued!!!Very disappointed, loyal customers now lost and now using a different restaurant. Highly suggest getting someone to answer the phone with a strong knowledge of the English language & customer service skills.

When we arrived having booked several months ago we had to wait outside at 5.45 in the rain nobody there we phoned up and were told somebody would open up for us. Nothing happened so we phoned again and were told someone would arrive soon 20 minutes later a very nice guy turned up and showed us to our roomFreezing cold no heating he arranged a small portable blow heater for us. The restaurant was closed so we travelled to Bidford for a meal.No breakfast although advertised as B&B there were 2 very small 20gram packets of cereals for 2 days for 2 of us!! But only milk for 1 day,so no drinks in the morning on day 2. Again second night restaurant closed again so we travelled to Winchcombe for our evening meal. The temperature was 2deg C the first night so we were very cold.Everywhere locally fully booked for Cheltenham races so we had no choice but stay second night. Very disappointed and feel letdown by reviews. We will never come again. The staff were very nice but theservice appalling. Fran and Martin.

I love it here. Regular visitor including sleeping in the rooms which are perfect and hotel like. They are always clean and well maintained. Child friendly. Pet friendly. Perfect service from staff. Perfect food with great variety from pub grub to carvery. I've sampled pretty much all the desserts and I am always happy with them. Very good pricing for what you get as well. I'm used to northern city pubs and this friendly village pub is a perfect retreat.

Once again we had a delicious carvery here at lunch time. The portions are very generous and it all tasted as good as it looked. The staff were very friendly and I also managed to compliment the chef this time. …

We’ve ordered take away from Taj a few times and they’ve always been fab so we decided to eat in this time.Taj offers a splendid variety of dishes, including both classics and more adventurous options. I opted for the mixed starter and chicken tikka balti, which were both fantastic. The poppadoms and naan bread were great. One of our party asked for a dish not on the menu and the staff were more than happy to make it - it too was fantastic. The staff were courteous and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. With generous portions and great flavours, Taj has won my highest recommendation. I’m looking forward to coming back soon!
