Wow, what a surprise. Random search and find on Google as in the area. The place is so quaint. Right on the canal with people sitting out the back watching the sun go down. We ordered food with the choice of traditional and Malaysian food. I ordered the chef special and another person in the party the pie. The dishes were excellent and tasteful. The staff were friendly and helpful. Very recommended.

We arrived around 4pm outside on narrowboat to discover very empty moorings and pub closed! BUT 5pm came pub opened and boy was the food worth waiting for just amazing Thia Green curry. We had heard 3yrs ago that it was worth a stop if we were ever up this way again. Great staff, great food, and great mooring. Thank you.

Went in for a meal , the service and staff was top class , nothing was to much for them. They explained how meals can be changed to our needs and even changed our hot drinks to our needs. Will definitely visit again. Also a pub with no WiFi was so nice hearing chatter and people talking ,and couples talking was so nice not seeing people on there mobiles

Moored up on the canal for the night and went in to see what they had to offer. To say we were blown away is an understatement - the owners were engaging and friendly and knowledgeable and clearly love their place, they recommended the Malaysian food and it did not disappoint. Everything was absolutely incredible and we've bookmarked the place to come back! Outside seating available, dog friendly, free overnight mooring available - what more could you possibly ask for?

We had a lovely meal at the Dog and Doublet on a Sunday afternoon. Would definitely recommend booking as it is popular. Lovely location by the canal. It isn't table service but that doesn't bother us, it doesn't really take any effort to walk to the bar to order food and drinks. Great selection of drinks on offer and the food was lovely. In my photos you can see breaded garlic mushrooms starter, mozzarella sticks starter, some sort of king prawn starter my mother in law had, the spicy chicken burger and the steak and ale pie. I had the lasagne. The people I was with also had desserts. All the food was delicious and seemed to be cooked fresh. The side salads were beautiful too. They are very dog friendly here, from what I can tell there are no out of bounds areas for dogs. They made our dog very welcome. We ate inside and then enjoyed drinks outside by the canal afterwards on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon 😊☀️ bliss!

Great food, so much more interesting than normal canal side pub fayre. We had Malaysian curry with rice and a Malaysian noodle dish which were both fabulous. Thai fish cakes and salt and pepper ribs (get these you will not regret it!). Very friendly staff, great value for money. What a pleasant surprise on our holiday!

Did not stay overnight, but i did have a meal and a couple of pints. The bar was a traditional country pub, with a wide selection of beers and wines. The lady behind the bar(possibly landlady was very welcoming and had a great knowledge of the different unique ales meal was good as well

A pub that could do better, they serve short measures on the half pints their half pints glasses don't meet 284cc minimum volumes. It closed at 3:00 pm sending all of it's customers outside at 3:10 and locked all the doors, nobody could return the glasses or use the toilets, apart from that the pub is nice with good beer.

Just spent a lovely Sunday afternoon in the Dog and Doublet for my son's 40th. Great Sunday lunch after a good morning's shooting. Staff were great and so was the ambience. Thanks.
