Quiet little town hotel next to the train station. Trains to and from London every hour. The hotel is wonderful. We stayed in the King Double, and it exceeded our expectations. Comfortable beds and cozy furnishings. Breakfast in the bar and restaurant on the first floor, there is a gluten free option if needed. The staff was helpful and engaging and met all of our needs. Highly recommended.

This hotel seems to be trying hard to come up to a high standard, but isn’t quite there yet. The staff were lovely, smart and tried exceptionally hard to sort out the issues we had. …

Feel two stars is generous on this occasion.Room '4' had poor quality single beds and pillows, extensive mould in the bathroom, the cleaning of the room didn't feel thorough, poor quality windows meaning it felt like my bed was in the middle of the beer garden. Music in the pub downstairs was reverberating through the room until late. They lost my food ticket and so food took 1 hour to come - manager was nice about it and offered free drink but I had to go and point out issue to them. Once food arrived it was tasty.Definitely not a four star stay.

Held a Charity Event on Friday night. From the beginning, dealing with Katie, the Events Manager, was a pleasure and nothing was too much trouble. The evening itself went brilliantly, the food was outstanding, compliments to the kitchen and the Chef, who must have the patience of a Saint. To Hannah, our Host and the bar staff, thank you! Would highly recommend.

Beware .Attended a a post funeral wake for a family member at this hotel. I parked my van in the car park. There were no clearly marked parking requirements or restrictions displayed anywhere. I went to the function room for the wake . There were no signs in the entrance stating that the registration mark of van had to be logged in the hotel .Today I received a parking fine of £100 within 28 days . See TripAdvisor , this has happened to other visitors to this hotel.

Went for lunch. A fish goujon sandwich was served on a brioche roll (why? It did nothing fior it) and priced at £11. Advertised with cheese sauce and tartare sauce, which seemed a little OTT. Glad I declined the cheese sauce. It was gloopy enough. The place was very noisy and we could barely hear ourselves think because of the loud banter and laughter coming from groups of young men at the bar.
