Cash only bar (in 2024)? Fair enough I suppose. Rude, unwelcoming bar person, refusing patrons use of the toilet on a cold day in October when there is a only handful of people in the bar? Unacceptable. You'd do well to avoid. Such a shame as it's in a lovely location. I can't imagine what the rooms in the hotel would be like.

we’ve walked over 8 miles with massive rucksacks, wanted to stop for the toilet we very politely asked the man at the front desk for use there toilet, was then told no because were not customers. we offered to buy a drink was told ‘that’s not how it works’ and that we couldn’t use the loo after walking for ages. massive joke, so rude for no reason.

It was a nice place , very cosy, but didn't know until I got there it was cash only. I rarely hold cash, so I had to borrow money while I was there. Other then that I was fine!

A great example of a local pub. I've not stayed here so can't comment on the rooms although they are always full. The bar is cosy and the owners welcoming. The function room upstairs is a reasonable size with tables, chairs and real crockery if you want it. The buffet food at our function was good but not exceptional. An all round decent place to drop in for a quick drink or meet your neighbours if you are local.

Excellent local. Dot and Bill are friendly experienced owners that make you feel very welcome. Great place for a game of pool, as they both play very well and have a great relationship with the locals. Very close to the caves where ancient pictish symbols can be found. Also one of only two gravestones designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh lies just across the road behind a walled cemetery.

Great wee neighbourhood bar. Very friendly landlord. Well kept bar, very clean toilets, cheap as chips prices and good selection of beers and ciders. Well pleased with my visit there and will be back again.
