This location can't be beat. It's right around the corner from the Royal Mile. The rooms are compact but have everything you need, especially for a single person. The only recommendation I would have would be breakfast. There was no protein on the "breakfast bar" except for yogurt. The manager said they were working on that. They have air conditioning in all the rooms and the windows do not open. I had issues with my air conditioner one night and the manager quickly and with a lot of support moved me to another room. Very friendly, very clean, very helpful. What more can you want? The TV had a casting ability so you could watch your phone on the TV.

Good parts:|Location|Comfy bed|Quiet and dark |Some staff (lady with curly hair) were friendly and helpful ||Bad parts:|The staff are clearly overworked and underpaid. Every staff member I encountered was stressed to the gills. …

Considering the location and how close to the train station it is then it's very well priced.||The rooms look designed too high standard and the decor is very pleasing on the eyes. …

Room as described apart from the smart TV wasn't working properly and could only access the Freeview channels. The movies and catch up did not work at all. The staff were very friendly and helpful but the food was awful. They charged £11 for a frozen pizza and the choice of food was very limited with either two varieties of pizza or tortillas and dip.We definitely do not recommend using the taxi service by the reception desk. The driver took ages to arrive and could not understand English very well. Even though we told the phone operator that we were going to a well known building, the driver went the complete wrong way, needed us to provide a postcode and then didn't deduct the cost of taking us to the wrong place. He also refused to give us our change. The driver also started the journey with the starting cost of £4.80 and on tariff 3 at 8pm on a Monday night. After speaking to a couple of other taxi drivers we were told that the journey should have cost no more than £5, not double that and that he should not have charged us for getting lost and he definitely shouldn't have been on tariff 3 and £4.80 starting cost. Please avoid at all costs. It's much easier and cheaper to get a taxi from the train station.

Great hotel, great location. Great staff. Great price for the area. Just didn't like how the lights are programmed. They're basically all on or all off - there's a half on option but its almost just as bright as fully on and you can't turn on the light in the bathroom on its own. Wouldn't stop me from staying here again but it's kind of annoying to deal with.

If it wasn’t for the location, it would have been totally unacceptable. All I can say positive about it is it’s in a great location, the bed linens appeared to be clean as did the bathroom (except for some mold around the tub).  …

The location of this is great and your near the centre but I encountered quite a few problems while staying at this hotel. The first problem was that you cannot open a window when you find the room is stuffy.  …

Incredible location only 5 minutes for Waverley station. Room was compact as is noted on the website but it was bigger than we thought it would be and spacious enough for our needs. It was clean and had what we needed. …

I stayed here two different times, in two different room, booked by a third party. This is a no-frills hotel which is a little disappointing considering the price. Having said that though, it has what you need. There is soap, but no shampoo, conditioner, or lotion, which is fine. The electricity isn't on in the room unless you put the key card in a slot. That is fine too. Ecology is important. However, if you take the key card out, the rooms became very hot (end of August, early Sept). We adjusted the room to a decent sleeping temperature, but the thermostat would shut itself off and I'd wake up sweating (both times) and would have to reset it in the night. The windows don't open for air.On the plus side, it has what you need. The breakfast costs 10 for the buffet and is very good.I'm not sure I'd return though.I understand being ecological, but there's a difference between that and being cheap.
