Spent a fantastic 2 nights here recently. The room was good and not too noisy despite being in the centre. The restaurant downstairs was an excellent experience, with great service and good. The staff were amazing and really friendly.

The restuarant is unsurpassed in Stranraer. The food is excellent and beautifully presented. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, who are friendly and attentive, without being "in your face". …

Exceptional staff in a well appointed premises with absolutely excellent food in the restaurant. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the main bar is great craic with a good crowd of locals. Owners Derek and Janet couldn't do more for patrons and bar supervisor David is a rough diamond. (Only issue he has is he's too small to be seen behind the bar sometimes! ) Overall 5 stars and a complimentary step ladder for the wee lad.

The room was clean and cosy unfortunately the walk in shower didn’t have a non slip base bath mat or handle which was a bit of a bit uneasy as was afraid would slip when soap etc was applied . Me and my husband didn’t feel safe . …

I suspect most customers for this hotel stay overnight in order to catch the ferry next day. It's more of a bar with rooms than what one expects from a hotel. However, the rooms are excellent and the staff are friendly and helpful. …

Friendly staff. Don't offer breakfast but provided advice on where we could get breakfast. We had breakfast at Dnisi and it was very good. We were starting the Kirkpatrick C2C from here and the hotel offered secure bike storage overnight. Rooms clean and comfortable.

Stayed here on business and it was fantastic overall. The whole hotel has been refurbished to a very high standard recently. The owners and all the staff couldn't have been better and I was treated as if I had known them for years. Then we come to the food in the restaurant..... It was outstanding. Nothing fancy just really fantastic home cooked food at a great price. I would come here for dinner regularly if I stayed closer. Whole hotel is highly recommended, 5 stars.

I visited the Royal Hotel restaurant on a friday night for a meal. I had pre-booked a table: It was advisable as the restaurant was busy. The upstairs dining room is elegantly furnished and there is a relaxed vibe. The staff were friendly and efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed an inexpensive evening.
