A strange hotel that doesn't offer or ask about breakfast on registration. Then went to the restaurant at 6.20pm to be told it was closed. Room ok. In morning, went for breakfast and place was all locked up. …

I sent this complaint (on Fri 18/10) privately to The Maltings/Asha Restaurant via WhatsApp and on Messenger however no response and left on read!Hi, we ordered tonight as a family and ordered £65 worth of food (would have been a bit more without discount).Firstly, three of us paid extra for chicken tikka as opposed to boiled chicken. We were all given boiled chicken.Secondly, the curries were extremely bland, and the sauces were thin and watery.Thirdly, the pakora sizes were ridiculously small and overpriced for what we were given and they all tasted of fish.Fourthly, we ordered two portions of poppadoms and spicy onions. We were given 2 and a half poppadoms and one extremely tiny portion of spicy onions. We have eaten in restaurant and as takeaway numerous times however this will be our last. Very disappointing.

Fantastic Hotel, for sleeping, eating, drinking and socialising.Staff are top notch, the rooms are finished to a very high standard (4/5 star imo).Food is exceptional😁👍Even though they are a very busy hotel, behind the scenes they are improving all the other rooms, with no interruptions at all to the staying guests.I doff my hat to you all and look forward to my next stay.Take a bow everyone of you💞

My mother booked in August and it was the same story as the previous review given. It is now Jan 24 and we are still waiting for not only a refund but also not receiving any correspondence even though we have contacted these people with help from trading standard.A reply 6 months later below isn't good enough, and the booking was made direct from yourself the hotel, NOT a booking company. It is my mother that is out of over £200.Your refurb must be an all year round event conning people out of their own pockets and pensions. An absolute disgrace, even that you wouldn't reply to dozens of messages and letters drawn up by trading standards Scotland.

Booked our September stay in July.Received an email 2 days before the stay to say we had cancelled it but we clearly hadn't. When I called I was informed the rooms were being refurbished. Full payment taken from my account 6 weeks ago and not repaid. In a telephone conversation this week I was told the refund will take 10 working days. That's now 8 weeks I'm out of pocket. Does no one check the accounts and wonder why money is being paid in when the hotel is closed??Update... 10 working days from date of cancelled stay... Still no refund nor explanatory communication from hotel.Update 23rd November. The Maltings still have not refunded my money and are disputing their cancellation of my booking. Disgusting.

Haven't stayed in the hotel. However, we have been for food several times since it was taken over, and it is fantastic. Mind you, I can only speak for the curries. They now have a good selection of beer as well, including Joker, Neck Oil and Cobra 😀 I really hope the Maltiings goes on to bigger and better things because as a Cairneyhill resident, we need a good pub/restaurant.
