We stayed in the private room for 8 nights, as we wanted to use this as a base for a hillwalking holiday. There are plenty of Munros in this area, and we were keen to tackle quite a number of them throughout the week. The room itself was clean as expected, with an ensuite. There is a little travel kettle available which we made use of for tea/coffee. We used the communal kitchen to cook our meals, which we also found to be cleaned to a high standard. Reading materials (walking books and maps) are available in the kitchen/common area.Iain is a very friendly and accommodating host, and ensured that our stay was peaceful and comfortable. Iain is also very knowledgeable about the local area, and can give recommendations of various walks. Queries were answered by phone and email in a prompt manner. We are already planning our return - thank you!

Stopped here by chance and very grateful to find vacant bunks, shared with another travel pair.First time in a bunkhouse and definitely not a bad experience.Shower was great but there's no sound privacy at all with a concertina type door !Very well equipped kitchen.Sleeps 8 in total but I'm guessing you'd have to book in advance if you were needing all the bunks.Very nice and welcoming host.

This is such a good bunkhouse and run by a very helpful owner, Iain. It's in a very handy central location between the Torridon and Assynt mountains. The design has been well thought out and suits the outdoor enthusiast. …

One of the worst places I've ever stayed. Cold water in the shower, no towels, terrible service... absolutely unacceptable. And it wasn’t cheap.

Comfortable bed, hot shower, well equipped kitchen/common room and friendly, welcoming host - what more could one want from a bunkhouse? Plus, fresh eggs from Iain's hens are available to buy - great change from the usual trail food! Very good value, would definitely stay again, highly recommended.

We had an incredible stay at the bunkhouse. Unbeatable location between the tree in the valley. Walking distance from the mountain routes and rivers. Forest Gardens right across the road. The bunkhouse is very well equipped with a lovely kitchen and drying room for wet gear. Two very tidy bathrooms with lovely showers. The owners are extremely helpfull, they even gave us lifts to the nearby town. They also sell their own free range eggs. This has been the highlight of our entire trip. Would most definitely highly recommend the bunkhouse.RegardsJohann and Comine from South Africa

Iain is a great host and certainly knows his stuff. Plenty to do and see a short drive away. The scenery and views are truly breathtaking. The accommodation was clean and well set out and the shared kitchen area was great to make new acquaintances and share experience and knowledge. We can’t wait to stay here again soon. Loved it!

A beautiful, tranquil place in a magical area. My room had everything I could possibly need. As I was walking Scottish National Trail / Cape Wrath Trail (now completed) Iain had kindly accepted my sending half of my food to the bunkhouse so I didn't need to carry 10 days' worth of food on the trip. He also very kindly gave me a lift to Inverlael where I resumed the hike overnight. He's very friendly and helpful.I'd love to stay again.

Stayed for a couple of nights in the bunkhouse. Beautiful surroundings - lovely garden and path down to the river. Friendly host who was able to make some great mountain biking suggestions in the area. …
