I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. This place was fine and perfect affordable value for money. There is usually only one person there at check in but that's fine. Hotel room was simple and clean and had everything we needed. Everything was tidy and worked well. I would recommend this place!

Full disclosure: I checked in, raised my concerns, and was offered a full refund, which I accepted and left.I'm writing this because it's disrespectful to give such experience to people who pay a decent amount of money. Some basic cleanliness and maintenance are minimal expectations.Briefly, I came after a long day of hiking, went into the shower to find out the water pressure is ridiculously weak (and I've been to some cheap hostels and guests houses, but this was the worst). After a disappointing shower, I found out the two towels provided were not clean, with hair from a previous guest (luckily I had my own towel).Next I noticed the bed sheets were also stained, suggesting they hadn’t been changed. At this point I reached out to the property, they offered a full refund without attempting to resolve the issues. Fortunately, I was able to find another place to stay (much better for almostthe same price).

This place is close to the center with grocery store, shops, and train station. Rooms are small but adequate. If you want to just sleep and head out you will be fine. No AC, open the window for cooler air. no ceiling fan, you have water kettle, hairdryer. Floors will creak, you might hear your neighbors. I spent some time watching the “telly”. Free Wi-Fi. Breakfast was fine, you may not get a smile from the host.If have too much time to look around you will notice the maintenance and cleaning has been lacking. You won’t have new towels or bed made but I’m perfectly fine with that I prefer not being disturbed. The shower door can leak, has black spots in the corners where water can pool, places where caulking isn’t adequate. There is layers of “landlord special” instead of properly removing the mold mildew. The headboard has some dust. There’s stains in the carpet. You may or may not experience strange water pressure problems but they did fix it once reported. You may experience road noise since this is on a roadSuggestions: they should put an aerator on the bathroom faucet, myself and I can near neighbors turning to full laminar flow blast then try to turn it down to a more reasonable flow. Curtains are not full blackout, they should be full blackout. Add more shelves in bathroom where there is space.A PROFESSIONAL DEEP clean is needed regularly to keep the place mold free otherwise you just get more layers of mold! That means take off the shower doors!Lots of other little touchups that can be done daily.Locks got a fancy looking metal key, but it is locked from the inside as well so keep your key handy in case of an emergency- armchair home inspector

There are no staff. There is no breakfast. The corridors smell of cigarette smoke. The rooms were dirty. We had booked 2 rooms with our 2 children. Given the lack of any staff at all we weee worried about the security. |We did not stay for more than 10 minutes. It felt unsafe and unclean.

We picked here to stay when climbing Ben Nevis. It is ideally located with great parking. Close to amenities and a short drive to start our walk the following morning. …

No staff or breakfast, smells of cigarettes, shower dirty, very rundown and takes an age to get any hot water to have a poor shower. Very very overpriced, would have been better off in a youth hostel! So much for a bit of luxury after 7 days in a tent!

I don't like writing negative reviews but this one is, alas. This advertises as a bed and breakfast but notified us no breakfast. A sign at self registration said it was due to Covid. Really, in 2023 when even the town pharmacy does not require masks? There was no soap or shampoo in the shower dispenser and the towels had residual tobacco smells. Functional, cleanish, and well located. We've stayed in a lot of places in Scotland in the last two weeks. This was well below the median at this price.

It's close to lots of things and the people who run it are very nice and helpful. The breakfast is excellent, really good, but I would recommend not getting the cheapest room like we did, which was literally 70 steps to the top floor and very, very small. We stayed there at the start of our hike on the South Downs Way and for that it was fine. But it was clean and check in was easy.

Before arrival couldn’t get hold of anyone on the phone. Staff were all teenagers that never left staff room. Room nothing like the pictures very very small. …
