Had Sunday lunch to celebrate my son's birthday. There were 4 adults and 2 children, and everyone was very pleased with the food, ambience and service. The quality of the food was excellent, prepared to perfection, and plenty of it. …

visited The Ropemaker for the first time last weekend. I have to say my initial feeling was this a big pub so my expectations were low. How wrong could I have been. …

This is a Heartwood Inn, and although this was our first time at this establishment, all four of us know the menu well as we have often eaten together at their restaurants in Chichester (Brasserie Blanc - same group) and Horsham.  …

Came for Sunday lunch treat from my daughter with family, the revamp is high end & very nice including bar & garden. The service received for lunch was slow 45min until 1st course arrived. Expensive £21 for roast beef or pork. No other choice on roasts. Wasn’t very much for money 3 small bits of beef, huge Yorkshire pudding, small amount of vegetables & 3 average roast potatoes which were tough & dry inside.Wife left her potatoes. Tiny drizzle of gravy so asked for more and the smallest pot of extra gravy was received , a large spoonful of cauliflower in tiny pot. really? Far better elsewhere for roasts for less money for sure.Sticky toffee pudding was lovely & made the meal far better.Return? At those prices once in blue moon.May become a once & done place as it’s new.Expected better for our £180!Mandatory 10% tip added too.6/10.

My father and I stayed here for the first time.Everything was amazing. The man on the front desk was very polite and a gentlemen. When entering our room we were met with pleasantries which I haven’t experienced before in any hotel, let alone one with a restaurant and pub.The furniture was of high quality, beds were comfortable. We assume it would be noisy with a pub underneath but didn’t even hear a thing. We also dined in the restaurant that night and the food was also of high quality and very tasty (we had the steak). Had a few drinks at the bar during a busy period and service didn’t drop from what I could see. All the staff was working hard but still kept their customer service.Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend to anyone! Would love to stay again. My only complaint is to myself for not asking the attractive lady with blonde hair (the landlord?) if she was single and looking for a relationship. She seemed really busy and wasn’t the time. Was hoping to see her in the morning but alas, ‘twas not meant to be.

Great friendly professional service. The refurbishment has totally changed the building. A lovely walk around rectangular bar (similar to Cheers!) creates the atmosphere with plenty of comfortable seats. Great colour scheme around the whole building. The food is good quality, with excellent choices on the menu. Had the sea bream, delightful, and pistachio souffle to finish. The Brasserie Blanc group have brought their touch, and as a regular to their restaurants, I was not disappointed by any means.Highly recommend a visit or two!

The Ropemaker is a great hotel, the rooms are a good size, very nicely decorated and furnished. The bathroom is spacious and has a lovely walk-in shower. The tea and coffee was well stocked, with a coffee machine in the room and cold milk in the fridge. We ate our evening meal and breakfast at the restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed both meals. They were delicious, used high-quality ingredients, and there was a great choice. I will definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Great dining experience! We have just finished a lovely dinner with our 3 year old. We were given one of the little houses in the outside dining area and it was so lovely. Our waitress Lisa was brilliant with us and especially our daughter. She had lots of knowledge about the menu and drinks and made us feel very welcomed. Thank you! Big thank you to the chefs as well who clearly know what they are doing - great steak! Perfectly cooked and the starters were lovely as well. We also had a very helpful bartender but I didn’t catch his name.
