Really lovely pub and in such a beautiful village. Food was all good standard pub food and very lovely staff. We were a bit surprised at the bill and thought we'd been overcharged, but they'd added a hefty service charge, which I'm not a fan of. We always leave our own tip, depending on the experience and prefer this to be left at our own discretion.

Unfortunately a disappointing lunchtime visit on a quiet Saturday. Had booked a table and stood at bar for almost 10 minutes before any kind of acknowledgment that we were there, while a member of staff made one drink behind the bar. When eventually acknowledged and shown our table by another member of staff, no apology or recognition of the delay despite other drinkers at bar pointing this out - the poor service instead seemed to be amusing. That aside, decent food and drinks and service improved until end of meal when plates not cleared and nothing further offered, despite staff members milling about and few other customers. A shame as beautiful building in a lovely village at the foot of the Downs.

Our first visit for a Sunday roast and it didn't disappoint.Undoubtedly, the best roast we have experienced without exception.Utterly delicious.......The brûlée and vegan lemon cheesecake were equally as good.Thoroughly enjoyable experience including staff and the general manager Mike who were welcoming and friendly and had a good sense of humour! We rarely leave a review but felt it deserving and all we can say is we are looking forward to returning!Date of visit: June 2024

My wife and I spent a wonderful couple of nights staying at The White Hart. |The room was furnished to a high standards, and full of thoughtful touches that differentiated it from many run of the mill establishments. …

Nestled in a fold at the foot of the South Downs this village pub modestly declares it's history. Mind your head! Beams all around and great food and drinks options cooked to order. A traditional bar with real ales. Rooms to stay. Walking to and from here takes effort but well worth it. Thanks to the friendly team here. Will go again.

It was a last minute decision to pop into the White Hart for a bite of supper last night but a very good one.The bar and dining room were both quite busy but the staff (Tom and Lynne) were cheerful and friendly and our meal was lovely.I must make special mention of the really beautifully presented Eton Mess we had for dessert (sorry, I don't do food photographs!) prepared by new chef Amelia. Thank you all so much for a lovely evening.

Not a great experience, so disappointed, we had brought family with us after recommending it following a previous lunch we had which was enjoyable. Friendly staff on arrival at 1pm, we ordered promptly but waited a very long time for food, over 1.30 hours for our main meal which arrived at 2:45pm and we had my 85 year father with us. We ordered before the large table next to us but had to watch their food arrive first and then had to ask twice for updates on when we might be served. I ordered Crab Burger which was basically just crispy batter inside a dry bun with no flavour; it was also described on the menu as coming with avocado and Asian Slaw but this didn’t come with it. To be fair when we complained they apologised and said they would refund the crab meals which they did. My husband fish and chips was good. This is the first time I’ve ever left hungry from a meal out before. Two of our guests had roast dinner which certain things on the plate were cold. Will sadly not be returning in a hurry as it’s a lovely setting and the menu is good, but the service and food let it down badly on this occasion, maybe it was a one off I don’t know…..

This is a fantastic pub in all the right ways - it’s beautiful, in a gorgeous location, serves excellent food and has a brilliant manager and staff. The former saved the day for the group of us who had been walking the South Down way and were let down by a dodgy cab company. Thank you Mike! We’ll be back x

South Harting is a charming village and the White Hart inn is a delightful place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the chef is excellent! The breakfasts are to die for and lunch was one of the best meals we’ve ever had in a pub. Definitely recommended.
