We absolutely love the Menai. It has a cosy environment and great drinks. With darts boards and pool tables, it's never a dull night at the Menai. …

Nice clean room, my only problem was the hang rail is in the wrong place for clothes is thr single room I was in. Need to be in the opposite corner, boiling the kettle was steam my clothes. Very creaky floors but it's a old building.

Bedbugs||||In short, the room (and likely the hotel) is infested with bedbugs.||||We arrived at the hotel on 29/07/24 for a 3 night stay and a packed itinerary, showing our new baby to family. …

This a perfect stay in upper Bangor. Great for families with a very homely pub attached. The staff were very helpful in answering any questions we had about the local area. Could not recommend enough.

Lovely wee hotel. I was checked in by a very friendly man and found the room to be very comfortable with amenities more expensive hotels sometimes lack. The service in the bar was fantastic and I look forward to breakfast. Would recommend the Menai hotel for its superb value.

A week after our stay in the bedbug infested room, my husband had a bad reaction to the 46 bites that he had. He was writhing around trying not to itch them and was on antihistamines for days.We circled them to try and make sure that there were no new ones that had come up.Our baby and I also had a lot of bites, but fortunately we did not react to them as badly. One thing that came up from our call to environmental health was that there is no legal basis to force the hotel to get rid of the bedbugs. Indeed, although the hotel told us it had been 2 years since the last incident, environmental health said that it had only been 4 months. We would still recommend that you don't stay here under any circumstances, they may tell you that the issue is sorted, but it would seem like they can say anything with no legal recourse.

The hotel has clearly seen better days and needs major refurbishment. The room we had was spacious and the bed comfortable. However, the furniture was old and the room needed redecorating. Towels and toiletries were provided. The staff were welcoming and asked us to provide our choices for breakfast which included a cooked breakfast and was of a good standard. We only stayed one night and chose the hotel because it was near the city centre and was more reasonable than other hotels. We wouldn't rush back there again.

Tried some of the food off the new menu and it was brilliant, theres a good selection, even for veggies and vegans. The pillows are so comfy! The staff were really pleasant and while the room could do with a bit of a renovation (or at least a lick of paint) it was comfy and pleasant. Breakfast was nice with a decent choice of items, would stay again!
