We enjoyed our stay at Palé Hall but wouldn't go back. The room was beautiful, we had a lovely view overlooking the garden and the bed was very comfortable. The building itself is incredible and the decor was fitting with the theme. We dined at the Michelin Star restaurant and we're disappointed with the quality of food and service. We opted for the 4 course but they were all lacking in flavour and freshness, overly complicated and not executed well enough, maybe our expectations are too high coming from Melbourne. We constantly had to ask for our wine and water to be refilled and there was nothing explained about the food when brought to the table. Luckily there was one staff member there that made our stay memorable, he was amazing. The breakfast was terrible, I'm sorry to say. I had scrambled eggs and salmon. The eggs tasted as if they came from a packet. We were told they would valet our car however when we came down the next morning our car was left out the front, unlocked with the keys left in it.We aren't fussy people but you expect a certain level of service from a 5 star hotel, and we received much better service from the amazing 4 star hotels in the area.

Went with my mum and daughter for lunch.Food was good. Service was excellent.Price was a little expensive.Location was wonderful.New owners are undertaking redecoration and I am very interested to see what they do. Unable to fully mark rooms as I did not stay the night.Would consider a short break there for a special occation.Would like to try the main restaurant.

We've been coming here for a long time on special occasions,But this time will probably be our last, which is very sad.The place and rooms are beautiful, but this time the service was poor at times. It started when we arrived, our room which we have wasn't available despite being booked. The alternative room we were offered was beautiful though. Then downstairs we asked would it be possible for us both to have scones for our afternoon tea, yes but it will be a few minutes. Forty five minutes later they finally arrived. Then later we came down for dinner, and the service was appalling, so slow despite lots of staff stood talking and milling around. We were looking around the dining room only to see other couples faces thinking exactly what we were, why so slow. After three hours we finally had dessert. The food was ok, but the bread we asked for to go with the fish starter was disgusting and we didn't eat it and paid an extra six pounds for that privilege, and by this point we'd had enough, so we were leaving the dining room and were then asked to "check our bill" for what we had ordered. For us that was the final straw ( a new policy apparently)At breakfast the service was excellent, but my bacon was dried out and massively over done. With the extra supplements we had to pay the bill was over four hundred pounds, not cheap but if it's good it's worth it.But we drove away from palē feeling very let down. This new owner with all his expensive cars lined up outside seems to have let standards slip a lot. It's a great shame.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room; this place is expensive, so is it worth it? For us, it was. Just.||Pale has just got a Michelin award for hospitality – and boy is it worthy.  …

Staff are very friendly, and the food is good although overpriced. Unfortunately the rooms are nowhere near the standard that would be required to justify the prices charged. …

Stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it! Staff were all lovely, service was attentive and friendly to us and our 2 dogs. The hotel itself is very nice and the gardens are beautiful. It is in quite a remote location so if you want to explore the area having a car is a must. The fine dining restaurant was fantastic, we had the 7 course menu and every course was awesome, better than a 3 star Michelin restaurant we had been to the month before. The only tiny thing I would change was that some of the wait staff were quite light on detail when they brought out the dish so you didn't have all the details of what you were eating but this was minor and overall the experience was great. The sommelier was really knowledgeable and the wines were really good and some interesting ones we hadn't tried before.

Amazing stay at Pale Hall. Right from the start expectations were exceeded, received a call a week before to check dinner status which sadly we couldn't attend due to other engagements.  …
