Entered the hostel reception area and very busy in that area. No staff present. Lots of people appearing intoxicated and or high on drugs. Didn't feel to safe. …

Before I checked in I emailed 3 times to tell them I would be checking in late. I did NOT get a response. I did call and was informed I’d get a code sent to my email. I did NOT get an email. …

The public areas are nice and staff helpful. However the dorms are very poor. I asked to be moved from first dorm as it was nothing like the photos, and in fact was disgusting. I was moved to another dorm. …

Rooms are clean and the dormitory is made of a solid and safe wooden structure. But, the rooms are VERY noisy facing the main road.Mattresses are still wrapped in plastic envelopes and are super noisy during the night.Window do not close properly and cold drafts come from them.Very rude visitors, I was taken my bed from a lady who moved my cloths and stuff I put on it.Staff is super kind , complementary drinks available all day.Welcoming and comfort reception area.

If you are looking for a low budget calm and warm place to stay, Mrs. Potts has that for you!when I arrived in Cardiff after a rainy day's on my camping bicycle tour, I needed a roof over my head for a couple of day's and I'm glad it was the roof of Mrs. Potts hostel! :-)The staff were very warm and caring and there was a familial, homely atmosphere.I read some reviews with complaints about the toilets or beds but I didn’t had the problems. It’s not hotel-suite quality of course, but it’s decent! Maybe the people where expecting that, and/or zooming in on unfortunate details in that moment. If you’re looking for a basic low profile and simple place to stay for a very reasonable price, consider Mrs. Potts!

DO NOT BOOK!!!!!|We booked last summer as we were going to the arena for an event. At the time the reviews weren't that bad, we thought we'd be fine for one night. |When we looked nearer the time the reviews were absolutely hideous.  …

So disappointing. It seems like it has so much potential to be a beautiful hostel but really the issue lies no further than basic hygiene. It is extremely dirty and I can see how they have had issues with bed bugs this past few months. I messaged prior to my stay informing them that I am extremely allergic to bug bites and I cannot risk staying if it is exposed to bed bugs and I was reassured that the room I would enter was clean and that a refund would be impossible. The next morning I woke up with blood on my sheets and dead bugs on the mattress. The receptionist was a beautiful young lady who was so kind and worked really hard to correct things, offering to wash my clothes and change my bed. I decided to stay elsewhere and she helped me get the owner to give me a refund. The hostel is obviously run so poorly and needs to be shut down by the council to get rid of the bed bugs, it is absolutely riddled with them. I feel terribly for the staff who have to stand there and hear the same complaint about bed bugs every morning as they are so lovely and the owner is the one who should be dealing with these complaints and refunding everybody. I would urge EVERBODY to pay the extra money and stay elsewhere, it’s really just not worth it.

It's a nice place, I met lots of lovely people and a very lovely tourist Lady who was so good to me, I learned a lot from her. They have amazing staff, especially the lady at the reception, 'Ishiah' I guess, and the Indian guy, I didn't feel like I'm new, and the cost is very reasonable.I got to make my own meals some times, there's discipline in the kitchen. Then I saw the reviews, I almost got scared, though I never experienced the bugs, then I enquire about it.But I was told that they disinfected the rooms, and cleaned up real good,Honestly it's better and very peaceful,Not luxurious but neat and lovely place. No eating in the room to avoid attracting insects, but some people are still stubborn.Asides that, I'd recommend anyone, students or tourists who wants a place to land and start averagely to consider this Mrs Potts. Thanks guys for making my stay smooth and peaceful.

Dormitory room door cannot be locked due to broken lock. Showering water flow and temperature are not stable. Ventilation in the shared restroom is not very effective, resulting in the corridor smelling bad. …

It is in a good location, but there is no hot water in the bathroom. The kitchen is open from 10 am to 10 pm, just like the reception. So, if you want to check out early, you can not warm your food, but they provide hot drinks for free, which I appreciate and like so much. Don't forget to close the window to reduce the noise from outside.
