So much to say but trying to shorten it down. I went on this retreat for my Birthday, Dad had not long passed away, and I needed some time out for me, away from everything. I'm so glad I came across Song of the River.... …

Beautiful Peaceful secluded B&B. This gorgeous House is surrounded by trees trees and more trees lol on the edge of a river down from a Ford. Mine hosts Nick and Barbara are a lovely couple who cater for your every need and whim - within reason - and are happy to welcome you to share their home and are a mine of information regarding the local area. If you are a walker they can help you with some fabulous walks. If you are not a walker like me they still have plenty of suggestions about where to go within the area or where to go for your dinner in the evening. Barbara also offers beauty treatments which are luxurious - I had a facial when I stayed and I fell asleep! The whole experience is wonderful and well worth a visit be it for a couple of nights or longer. If like me you want to get away from car noise, street lights , in fact any sign of suburban life and replace it with the sound of the river, trees and owls and actually hear the dawn chorus if you wake that early then this is the place for you! Thanks to Nick and Barbara you feel at home in a beautiful house in a beautiful part of the world. Highly recommended. Will be visiting again soon. Feel like I've made 2 new friends!

Song o the river, what a fantastic idyllic setting to rest and refresh, Nick and Barbara are the most perfect hosts, we stayed for 2 nights, the room was everything you needed, the bathroom whilst not being en suite it was situated adjacent to our room so no problem. Back to Nick and Barbara, when we were leaving we felt that we were leaving a couple we had known for years. A 5 star Band B any breakfast you could have, well cooked and presented. Hint, don't go off the sat nav use Google maps.

Barbara and Nick did us a huge favour when booking.com let us book with them when it shouldn't have. Nevertheless they were the kindest people who invited us into their home and fed us dinner at the time of the night when we had no idea where we were going to go. The room and facilities were very comfortable and spotless clean. Very thoughtful amenities like multi plugs, hand sanitisers, extra pillows and towels, books etc. More than any of these, we were very welcoming, warm and great coversationalists. It felt like home away from home! Please bear in mind its not a regular B&B anymore but a spiritual retreat where people visit to have a holistic healing experience. We definitely felt the great energy.

Although I have never stayed at this b&b, I recently took my kids and some kids that I look after out for a nature walk 3 of which are autistic… the PUBLIC footpath that so happens to run behind the business is great for kids as they love spotting gnomes and just love the nature including dipping toed in the river etc… we stopped for a quick break by the steps.. 2 children were moving some stones looking for bugs, 1 was making snow angels in the small stones at the bottom, not harming anyone.. the gent that I assume owns the business came out telling us it was private property and to control the kids (they were not in the way, climbing or throwing stones btw)…. I called kids back and got them to calm down as this rattled them a little with his tone.. then his Rottweiler of a WIFE came around the corner kicking off at us telling me to discipline my children…. And mouthing off at us, I repeatedly asked them to not use that confrontational tone in front of the children and there is no need for the aggression that she shown, she carried on and stormed off.. the gent then explained that many kids have fallen down the steps…. Fair enough but they were not climbing or messing about on the steps… after they left we got out things together and headed home as it triggered some severe emotions with the children. They did this in front of a 7month old, a 3 year old, 5yr old, 6yr old and a 8 year old …. Disgusting behaviour from the owners, they do not deserve to be close to that beautiful scenery
