We stayed at The black boy for a two night stay, so we could walk up Snowdon. Llanberis path was just 20 min drive away. All hotel staff were great, nothing was too much trouble. …

We stayed 2 nights at the end of September 24. Our stay was fantastic, the staff were very welcoming & helpful from the start. The rooms were immaculate, as was the bar/restaurant area. …

Visited for food on Sunday evening. It's a truly historic building in a town steeped in Welsh and British history - adjacent to Caernarfon Castle. We had been walking in the hills and being Sunday we knew not everywhere would be open. The food was great and excellent value. We ate in the bar. This was fine although the music was somewhat loud and not easy to hear people speak above it.Our main concern was the surly waitress who served us. I suggest she gets some refresher training in how to speak to customers politely to put them at their ease. The bar staff were good and attentive. All in all a great venue, with great food let down by those whose role it is to serve customers their food.

Excellent menu and food. We had steak and ale pies, lasagne and pork belly and all were top notch. Prices look steep for a pub but the portions are huge and it’s really, really good. Nice selection of beers too.

The pub has amazing internal design. Lots of history and just nice to be inside. Makes you feel comfortable and cozy.We ordered the food and drinks from the bar code link on the table. It was quick.Unfortunately we did not enjoy our cod with chips. It was either lacking spices or was just not fit our expectations. I also had two beers and one of them clearly tasted with soap inside.

It's been like a trip back in time with mod cons in this quirky inn within the old castle walls. Our room (21) was in the roofspace, with lovely bathroom, separate tv / lounge area and fantastically comfy bed. …

Reviewing the accommodation and breakfast: OUTSTANDING.||Prior to arrival, the venue sent an email with check-in preferences. We submitted this and opted for an early-ish check in. That worked perfectly. …

Everything was just perfect! All the staff were so friendly and kind. The lady who checked us in was fantastic. We couldn’t have breakfast our first morning so the hotel can make you a packed lunch. Breakfast was 10/10, perfect poached eggs and chunky tasty sausages. Our executive bedroom was lovely, huge comfy bed, light up mirrors, heated towel rails, soft bedding. For an old historical building it’s been refurbished brilliantly but keeping the character. A 20 minute drive to Snowdon park and ride. The black boy is located inside the castle walls, very picturesque. Great choices for dinner! Thank you and we will most definitely return!

A fabulous traditional bar that oozes atmosphere and history. Bar is so cosy and even on wet, dark Sunday night, was packed with mix of locals and visitors. Ordered filled Yorkshire pudding and was disappointed but was very late, so think missed the best.
