Competent straightforward pub food. Quite efficient service. Pleasant enough ambience. Describes itself (like many places) as 'dog friendly' but more accurate would be 'dog tolerant'. But no big deal here. Yeah, would eat here again.

I only stayed one night but it was beautiful. Our bed was so soft and I slept amazingly. The bathrooms are a good size too. It has a kettle with tea and instant coffee and biscoffs. I enjoyed mine. I sat one afternoon in the garden area and relaxed with a beer. We later ate dinner in the restaurant and shared since they were large portions. Some people we were visiting in Edinburgh wondered why we were in Currie, we told them when i saw this place online I was so excited to stay there. It's only about a 20 min drive to a busy part of Edinburgh. I would love to revisit. The town doesn't have a lot but it has a beautiful view, wonderful people, a couple grocery options and a bakery within distance of where we stayed. It was lovely to unwind. And it's more affordable too!

The customer service was perfect! The ambiance is fun and relaxed, the interior design is really typical of Scotland! The rooms were clean. I had a lot of fun! The bar is really cool too! I recommend it!***please note that the rooms are extremely cold and that it takes time for the heater to warm up the room after you start it. We had a double room and we were all freezing for a good part of the night. If you can bring extra blankets or sleep with warm clothes do it!

Reasonably priced rooms but no breakfast supplied now. Beds were very soft - I prefer an orthopaedic mattress, but others may like this. Only one power socket near the bed, however the bedside light had two USB charging sockets. Ideal location for catching the 44 bus right outside the pub straight into the centre of Edinburgh ! Bus stop is called Currie Library. Free parking to the rear of the hotel.

The room I had booked was really cheap, so I wasn't expecting much and when I first got to the pub, I was really pleasantly surprised, it was lovely. Very friendly welcome and despite me being very early, I was shown to my room. Sadly it mostly went downhill from there. There were no toiletries supplied, not even soap or handwash - luckily I had my own so I could wash my hands. Once the water eventually ran hot that is - it took several minutes running the tap until it was hot - what a waste of water. There was a coffee machine in the room - brilliant, I thought! Except when I went to make myself an early coffee before I left in the morning, there wasn't any milk supplied. No one around to get some from either - and there was no breakfast available, which I hadn't realised until I got there, not a huge problem for me, but was surprising.Bed was incredibly uncomfortable - I really didn't sleep well on it. Far too hard and springy, my back was aching badly the next morning. The curtains didn't shut the light out, so the room didn't get very dark. The shower was terrible, not much pressure, and there were no shelves on which to put shampoo etc, so you had to keep bending down in a very tight space. The food in the pub was great. I ordered a couple of large whiskies to help my dinner go down, and had no idea until the bill came that they were almost £10/shot! I paid £40 for 2 large whiskies, which was a bit of a shock, I feel they could have mentioned it when I ordered them. The staff were also not particularly friendly or welcoming (I didn't see the lady who welcomed me originally again).Location was great - bus stop right outside, which took about 35 minutes into Edinburgh; also there was a train station about 15 mins walk downhill which was about 20 mins to the centre.

This truly was a pub with a few rooms - 4 to be exact. The rooms were clean, but a bit dated. The bed was not as firm as it could have been - I felt like I could roll right off the side. The tub was deep - great for a hot soak - but lacked handles to hoist oneself up and out. The shower apparatus was confusing also. The pub was packed the night we arrived and were told we could only stay a short time (without a booking) due to their trivia game night - so we ate hurriedly and retired early.Breakfast was delicious and generous - but it lacked consistently from day to day - depending on who was on duty. Jeff & Hazel were very pleasant. If you like a good pub and a lively atmosphere, this is your place. If you want a quiet respite for older weary tourists, you should look elsewhere. Very limited parking.

This place absolutely smashed it out of the park!! Top tier service and quality. Both the fish and chips and the chicken mushroom were delicious and paired really well with the cask ales and scotch whisky after a long day of walking around Edinburgh.
