I am surprised there are no other reviews on here but I had a most lovely stay here for five days. Beautiful location spot on the sandy coast. James and Angie were delightfully welcoming, hospitable and extremely accomodating to my requests or needs and even heroes! My room was well facilitated and spacious, including a rocking chair, wifi, complete tea/coffee/hot chocolate tray set with complementary cookies (always a welcome touch for me!), large window view of the hills and gardens but not the sea, none of the rooms have view of the sea except for the cosy common lounge area (which has a spotting scope for watching the gannets diving for fish on Bass Rock, lovely). Showers are not powerful but enough for a good shower, smooth and good control over temperature which was already set just right on first use. Of course room was sparkly clean and maintained daily. Very comfortable bed.Very minor negatives: There is an alarm clock radio but I couldnt figure out how to set it and it was making a buzzing sound. The flat screen TV sound stutters frequently. I forgot to mention any of this to them but I will now and perhaps they might have it fixed by the time you visit. My room was the second room to the back of the house.James and Angie cook a fulfilling tailored English breakfast, including a very tasty fried bread and the usual variety of cereals and plenty of fruits to choose from. They told me they could cook anything for me but I wasn't very exploring on this aspect I'm afraid. Its only a five to ten minute walk to the high street and restaurants. Shops close at 5:30pm but Co-op supermarket closes 10pm and pubs/restaurants/takeaways close at 11pm at all times of year (I stayed off peak, in March).I actually came here with my telescope for its relatively dark skies to do astronomy and astrophotography. The Wing is conveniently just a couple blocks away from a hill on top of which the cosmos reveals itself as it blocks the nearby street lamps.North Berwick itself is a spectacular scenic coastline town, and brilliant for landscape photography, even if its windy, you have crashing waves on rocks with Bass Rock and Craigleigh as a backdrop. Right in front of The Wing is a bench porch and steps to the sandy beach, which doubly serves as a good spot to setup a tripod and use the bench for you camera equipment to rest on.So highly recommended and more than worth the rates charged.Tej
