We went for lunch it was lovely. The decor is dated but it is part of the charm, in that you can fully immerse yourself in the dining experience and it is a dining experience. We recommend the Breaded mushrooms and prawn cocktail to start. Food was really good, and even better a good pot of tea. Service is polite and friendly. The entrance vestibule is enchanting. Don't be put off by the for sale sign, it is simply that the family wish to retire but it is still going as, Traditional Scottish Period Baronial Manor House. Definitely worth the look if nothing else.

Sunday lunched here a number of times and all have been fantastic. It’s all proper old school attentiveness and politeness. The staff are all excellent. The food is excellent. The Sunday lunch is a tremendous 4 course + coffee affair, with a proper sweet trolley that is wheeled to your table. I just couldn’t resist the Rum baba today - amazing.

Fantastic food, value, service, surrounding & quite atmosphere. Old school restaurant with so much charm. Paul & his staff can't do enough to keep you happy, without being overbearing & in your face but very attentive & there when you require their service. Can't recommend highly enough. It's our go to place.

Don't have a party here. Initially the owner made my now husband and I think they were easy going and happy to help. However this was not the case. The function rooms are beautiful though dated but the toilets have a bad sewage problem which couldn't be disguised when at the function. We paid upfront for everything as requested. This included set up and clean up fees. But they didn't help at all. The owner just followed us and watched, complained how long we took and wouldn't even put their old gas heater on so we were freezing. Same when cleaning up and he insisted we clean up the morning after our wedding.Someone threw a little confetti in the ceremony and the owner came up to my husband right as we were just married to say he would charge us a clean up fee..We paid for 3 sets of toast drinks. Including speech drinks. The owner stood watching as speeches took place. No one had a drink during the speeches and it wasn't til I audibly complained by the 3rd speech the staff began filling glasses.. The staff were just standing beforehand.Owner of Manor also told staff not to serve our pregnant guest a drink until all our prepaid wine was used up. Likely so that he wouldn't have to refund the corkage fee.He constantly followed me around telling me what I should be doing. He even tried to say we would have a problem if my husband over slept and missed the breakfast included in our hotel payment...There is a suite upstairs and when downstairs was being prepared for party (moving 2 tables) took 2 hours. Guests waited upstairs however owner would not allow guests to relax upstairs longer than 5 minutes once room was ready. The owner had our wedding cake cut before we got our cake cut photos. And his reason was he "waited too long" yet he never told anyone. The large grounds we took our dogs on a 1am walk for a romantic moment. Guess who turned up.. The owner just to say I "got my hours out my dress" and laugh to walk off.And then when cleaning in the morning he insisted we fit a large a pallet in our car before we leave as he wouldn't dispose of the decoration. Knowing full well we took 2 trips to bring the bulkier decor.

I've been here many times over the years for special occasions and every time it has been consistently excellent. After seeing it was up for sale I assumed it was no longer open and so I was pleasantly surprised when I phoned up on the off chance to book a table to find out they were still open!I love the 'timewarp' ambience of this place and the food combined with friendly service rounds it all off to being a lovely experience.

Really enjoyed my lunch here. The lady who served us was very friendly and professional. The meal was well presented. The decor was like stepping back in time and really interesting and quirky. The place was spotless, so clean and polished.

Fabulous setting with a lovely old world feel. The service was first class from the moment we were greeted on arrival to arranging taxis home. Staff were so polite and accommodating. The food was delisious, I really enjoyed the salmon and prawns in a cream sauce. The best bit was the dessert trolly😋. Fantastic value for money and 5 star service.

A fantastic establishment where you are made to feel like landed gentry. The service is A1, the food is fantastic and the price is amazing. Get yourself treated to some Silver Service and some great food at a country style estate house. You won't be disapointed

Fur Coat no knickers. We stopped 2 nights and overall were disappointed. We had an evening meal booked which was good until my wife found a piece of plastic in her pudding. I asked for ice cream and was told there wasn't any only to see ice cream arrive at the next table, perhaps it was because they were regulars. I was disappointed but not surprised when the owner made no gesture about the plastic in the bill. The accommodation is very dated and needs some investment. It was a shame because some aspects were very good but wouldn't return or recommend.

Would not advise anyone going to this hotel for a small family wedding. On entering the beautiful premises was met with a cold brisk woman. Who belittle the fact of us wanting a small group wedding and not prepared to accommodate us in anyway. There was no cars in the car park. We can understand why now!
