The location was unique and beautiful. The autumnal colours of the surrounding woodland areas, along with the River Clyde flowing through, were stunning. The ambience within the hotel was superb. The view from our room was amazing. The restaurant and bar were lovely. It was one of the best nights we have ever had away.

Stayed here with my two daughters aged 8 and 9. Such a stunning location. The drive up was lovely and the hotel is beautiful. Purchased dinner bed and breakfast deal and it was excellent value. Dinner and breakfast we're delicious and all the staff were great. My children and I especially enjoyed the pool.

Really enjoyed our short stay here. Warm welcome by lovely young lady in reception. Room was spacious and spotless. Dinner in restaurant was delicious especially the sticky toffee pudding which was exceptional. Staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. A bit pricey if you're used to Spoons but comparable with other hotels. Leisure centre had good sized pool and sauna though the steam room was out of action. Didn't have a treatment but the beauty rooms looked very inviting. Setting is beautiful with riverside walks and heritage centre deserves a full day to fully appreciate it. The only downside was the poor water pressure in the room shower. If they could be more like the showers in the leisure centre they'd be perfect. Also the bed wasn't the most comfortable but not the worst I've had. Perhaps an upgrade to premier inn type beds could be considered.

Stopping at a heritage centre, outside of the main town of Lanark means the opportunities for exploring on foot are limited. There is a great walk along the Clyde and some real photo opportunities. Now, the hotel... Good sized rooms with everything you'd expect. Very comfortable bed and a massive bathroom. I cannot fault the facilities. All the rooms look over the Clyde valley. You feel really secluded. We had access to the spa and gym. A good number of machines and weights in the gym. The pool is a decent size and has a sauna and steam room. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. It made me feel like I knew everyone and they knew me.We went to the restaurant and the food was amazing. I'd come and stay again just to eat in the restaurant.Photographs of food and the views from and close to the hotel.

The site is in a stunning location and hotel is excellent with very friendly staff, we used the spa and pool which was very nice, huge bedroom. We also had an evening meal which was excellent with attentive and friendly service throughout.. The Clyde falls is a gem of a location and well worth a visit while you’re there to.

Great staff, amazing scenery, and a decent restaurant (Balmoral Chicken was excellent). Minor issues fixed quickly, which is what you want really. The spa is free for guests with a pool, sauna, and surprisingly well equipped gym. Treatments are excellent value - recommend the full body massage!

Rooms were spacious and clean. Linen was and quilts were comfortable kudos to the house keeping staff. Really disappointed with the check in staff/ Receptionist. Had requested for a late check out ( Normal Check Out is 12 noon) and was told that could stay until 1 pm but upon check out was charged 30 Pounds for the hour which could have been informed during check in. Was very unprofessional and sad end to our stay!

My room was freezing, a poo mark on the toilet, three cobwebs hanging from the ceiling over the bed and a bid spider.  …

The room was nice, spacious, clean, and the view was lovely. The setting is fantastic. The pool is great with a sauna and steam room. The restaurant was poor, very overpriced for the quality. My soup was very thick and seemed microwaved. My Balmoral chicken had no haggis inside... The staff were lovely but very slow and forgetful. We had to ask for drinks twice (and I do not mean they didn't refresh them) dessert menu twice, bill twice. The meal for four people took over two hours in a not busy restaurant.Breakfast was lovely but we couldn't find the coffee/tea when we asked we were informed the server should have asked when taking the order. It is a beautiful location but the experience was disappointing. I would avoid the restaurant if I could unfortunately there is no alternative.

This place doesn’t deserve the time taken to sit and write a review but it might save someone else from wasting their money like we did. An absolute disaster from start to finish. God awful smell of death throughout. …
