We stayed here for a night on our Scottish touring holiday an were so pleased we had made this choice. The room was on the small side with lovely decor and the bathroom had some lovely smelly toiletries. …

The room had a huge stain on the ceiling, as well as a large number of dead flies in the overhead light. The taps and fixtures in the room were corroded. When we asked for a room change the two managers simply gave that room to another guest. Poor them.We had dinner too, and our orders didn’t match the menu (our meals claimed to be vegan and were not), and the same manager simply dumped the replacement on the table with no apology. The bread and olives had two slices of stale bread.I would like to add that the waitress who actually tried to look after us was lovely, and was clearly inhibited by truly awful managers who didn’t help her at all. None of this reflects badly on her. Make her the manager instead. This hotel is not luxury or "boutique", it’s sad, bad and overpriced.

Ideal location, short walk from railway station and very close to all the amenities. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and everything was excellent. Comfortable bed, lovely decor, very modern with views out the sea, maintained to a high standard. Would highly recommend.

Sadly disappointed from arrival. |Tiny rooms, broken and poorly maintained rooms and the woman on reception would be better working in a prison with her distinct lack of hospitality skills.|£185 per night, a total rip off, unbearably hot …

Comfortably modern rooms and friendly staff. Continental breakfast was the only let down, for the price of the room it could have been better; proper coffee, better selection of fruits and just a more attentive layout on the breakfast table (had to ask for bowels, mugs, alternative milk ran out, no bin to put litter). Otherwise would recommend to stay!

A nice hotel, in a great location, but very seriously understaffed. We visited for a weekend and were initially impressed by the hotel. It looks good and has a cool vibe to it throughout. …

Welcomed by a young lad who was very friendly and gave a speedy and efficient check-in, one of the fastest I’ve experienced (sorry I didn’t catch your name). My husband and I just had a standard double room for a quick weekend seeing family, the room was cosy and clean (just a couple of cobwebs on the very high ceiling), nicely styled with a soft mattress, softer than we are used to but still very easy to sleep on. Kettle, coffee machine, lots of spare tea bags and coffee with biscuits and chocs too… lots to enjoy! The bathroom was clean and bright with an amazing shower and incredible smelling local products to use which left our skin silky smooth (you can buy some of them at reception too). The bar downstairs was well stocked with lots of local tipples, and those from further afield too, all at very reasonable prices. A chilled atmosphere, cool music and a good bartender as well (sorry we didn’t get your name either). In the mornings we were greeted by Dee who was an absolute joy! So friendly and attentive, we had a wonderful long chat with her about family, life and holidays - it’s a shame we only stayed 2 nights so we couldn’t chat more!We both had the free continental breakfast that came with the room, simple but tasty with a decent coffee and perfectly done toast. The hotel itself is opposite the loch, near the centre of town, close to the Central train station - great styling with a nice decor and lighting making it feel unique, we would happy stay again if they have rooms available next time we we are up.

Dropped by for some lunch with the kids, right on the front, it's very easy to find and beautiful views outside. I had a cheese pizza, and kids had mac and cheese and chips.Pizza was tasty but very little cheese on it, and lots of tomato sauce don't get me wrong the sauce it was nice. However, the balance isn't right. It felt like eating just tomato pizza at times. The mac and cheese came in a bowl and was like a soup almost with cheesesauce. My little one wouldn't touch it as it was so different from what she's used to. The chips were good. we got skinny chips they had chunky ones also but didn't try them. It's a nice place. Good service, and the food is fine it's just a little different, not completely to our personal taste this visit.

Spent a night, had booked a Seaview room, the room we were given had a view of carpark, queried it and staff were lovely and fixed it immediately. We were moved to room 11, lovely ensuite with green tiles and spacious room. Had lovely bowl of soup for lunch, continental breakfast included in price of room, simple but sufficient. Location fabulous, decor nice but the best thing about the Riva are the staff. All young but incredibly able, super-friendly and everything done with a smile. Our thanks to Ruby, who was amazing. I hope the owners appreciate the fabulous team they have!
