The staff were very nice and super helpful. The whole place was spotlessly clean, and the bedding was crisp. They even have a recued greeter cat called Zippy, who is lovely, affectionate, and needs it's own social media. I do agree with a lot of the other posts about there being no room amenities, the beds are narrow, the rooms are rather cramped, and they do charge for every single thing they can. It also isn't very central, and if you are not driving, be prepared for extra travel costs as it's a nearly hour walk to the town centre.

Great hotel! Reception staff really friendly! Bar incredibly cheap! 3 something for a pint! The rooms were compact as advertised but we're clean and comfy and lovely ambience lighting! We would definitely stay again.

I booked a twin room for two nights here for a trip to Cardiff with my son.Firstly, for £25 per night you can't really complain. The rooms are small but clean, they have the basics - bed, shower, toilet and TV. But, their ethos is to do the basics well, which I can't really agree that they did:1. The beds were very uncomfortable and after the first night I had ridiculous backache.2. The shower barely drained and we had to take 60 second showers each to prevent it from overflowing.3. I thought a tea tray in a room was a pretty basic amenity but you don't get this, and they charge over £2 for a teabag in the bar if you wanted one.The first two things we mentioned to the reception and to their credit they arranged for maintenance to check the shower and added an extra duvet on top of our mattresses, under the sheets, to make it softer. This really helped for the second night. We didn't eat in the bar on either evening because the menu is incredibly limited so can't comment on the quality, but we did have breakfast which was either a bacon bap, a sausage bap, or a veggie sausage bap, with a cuppa tea. Very limited but tasty and filled the hole in the morning. As far as basics go, they were mostly there but done to an average standard. The hotel is in a good location with ample parking, walking distance to some places to eat and public transport routes into Cardiff. Would I stay here again? Probably for one night if I needed somewhere to put my head but I wouldn't stay longer.

To be honest, after reading some of the reviews, we were a little worried. But on arrival, we were met by great staff who explained how things worked. The room was great. I think the best way of looking at it is. If you have ever stayed in a touring caravan or motor home, it's the same kind of layout and space. But absolutely excellent value for moneyAnd there should be more of themWhat a brilliant concept, and why would you pay a lot more for a little more space .Well done, zip team,we really enjoyed it, and we will be staying again5+stars from us

Stayed here for a night after going to ComicCon Wales at the ICC in Newport, it was a perfect compact and comfortable room for us to relax in after a long day! Super friendly staff with good takeaway recommendations, clean room, lovely bathroom, working air conditioning and plenty of choices for food in the hotel itself. For the price, I would highly recommend!

Budget hotel with a bar and light food options. If you are just looking for a bed, this is great. It's comfortable and quiet, a bit out of town but easily accessible. TV in the room at no extra cost, vending machines in the foyer. No frills but not grim.

Decent place just outside town. Staff were nice and friendly, you get what you pay for with the rooms but for a sleep it's good. Pizza and a pint for £8 is a good touch.

Cannot praise the Zip in Cardiff enough. I am not bothered about a hotel being fancy I just need somewhere to rest my head for a night, and this is why the Zip is so fantastic. It’s a lot cheaper than standard hotels, there is plenty of parking (which is free also) and the bar serves good food at a great price. The bar is fantastic and is very cheap compared to many other places. But my main take away from my stay was how amazing the staff were. They could not have done more to go out of their way to help if they could. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Good value. Perfectly happy with the size and comfort of the rooms for the price, especially with good included parking. Only issue was the extractor fan wasn't working which led to whole room getting streamy after shower.

We had booked two rooms for our group of four, but due to a change in plans, we requested an early check-in. We arrived at the hotel at 4 AM and informed the staff of our request, to which they agreed. However, despite this, we were asked to wait because all their rooms were reportedly full. We patiently waited in the reception area, hoping for an update, but to our dismay, we noticed that the hotel staff was allowing other guests to check in early without any issue. It became clear that they had no intention of accommodating us, which felt incredibly unfair and left us feeling frustrated and unwelcome. This experience has left us deeply disappointed, as it tarnishes the quality of service and hospitality that we expected from the hotel. Having traveled to over 20 countries, I have never encountered such poor treatment. This has been, without a doubt, the most disheartening and unpleasant experience we've ever had at a hotel.
