We spent a delightful week here in September. The welcome gifts were particularly appreciated and we made a good use of the stove. The place is just very cosy and the walks around are lovely.

Excellent cottage, great location, everything here you need. Flowers, milk, fudge, wine, and homemade muffins were a lovely welcome after an 8.5 hr drive. We would highly recommend this cottage.

We stayed in the cottage over Easter and were very satisfied. The cottage is beautifully decorated and, combined with the fireplace, is very cozy. Communication with Teresa was wonderful. The landscape is beautiful and all in all definitely worth a visit.

A house as you would want it to be rented out. More comfortable, fully equipped and in a visible location. Before checking in, we received the code for the key box. This way we could enter the cottage whenever it suited us on our arrival day, of course after the cleaning had been completed. Upon arrival there was a cool bottle of wine, a bottle of milk, a bouquet of flowers and fudge. That gives a welcome feeling. The morning after our check-in, the owner contacted us to ask if we were missing anything in the house. Very hospitable. The cottage contains an extensive manual of the cottage, surroundings, shops, etc. And the necessary information leaflets of activities in which their guests may be interested. The house is fully equipped. The kitchen is complete and has an oven-microwave as well as a separate oven, an induction hob and kettle. There is a cafetiere, but we prefer a regular coffee maker. The kitchen is also equipped with a washing machine. The cottage was extremely clean. We quickly noticed that. Compliments to the owners. Rarely have we come across a rental house where everything was clean: bedding, sanitary facilities (including the edges where you would not easily clean), kitchen, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery and glassware. In the kitchen there is a round fold-out dining table. Handy to save space. We opened the table halfway. The only disadvantage are the dining table chairs. These are too basic. The dining table chairs are also wooden folding chairs, the seat of which slopes forward. That's not comfortable, so we didn't have dinner at the dining table. In the morning at breakfast, while cooking and while dining, you sit and watch the neighbor's sheep and lambs in the backyard of the cottage. How cute and fantastic is that?!We are both tall guys: 1.97 and 1.92 meters tall. The bed was too short and quite narrow for us. The latter takes some getting used to, as we are used to a wider bed. There was no annoying footboard, so we could let our feet stick out at the end of the bed.The heating is largely pre-programmed. That's no problem. However, we found it difficult to turn on the heating outside the set times when we wanted to turn it on. Or give it a boost. One time it was easy, a fluke? Other times it didn't seem to do anything. Maybe we're just not used to this system. This had no effect whatsoever on the heat of the shower.Being on holiday in Skye means taking a lot of photos and also wanting to share this on social media and with family/friends. This review is also written on site. The cottage's WiFi is extremely fast.Parking is available on the cottage groundsAnd finally, another great advantage of the cottage. The location and the view. The view over the bay, the sea, is incredibly beautiful. And then the sunsets, that is something that people will not quickly get used to.

This is our third visit and we cannot fault this beautiful cottage, immaculately clean, everything you could want in a holiday cottage and topped by epic views of loch bay. Easily walking distance of the best restaurant in Scotland and a fantastic pub. Boat trips from the harbour by divers eye boats are also a short walk away! You can not want for more at auld mission. Please ignore the ridiculous review on the cleanliness of the cottage, it is the cleanest holiday home we have ever stayed in. There are 2 dogs that would also recommend this house to stay!

We were invited to this Cottage by our Parents. They have arrived a day prior to us and found the Cottage dirty and freezingly cold. Theyve spent five hours cleaning it just so it would meet minimal standards. They then were told by the owners that they didnt have time to clean it. Upon our arrival we still found dirt and grime under the furniture tho. We slept in the bedroom with two single beds. We simply pushed them together. Besides the moldy smell in the room we found a dead bug in the carpet and kept on wondering, why the room would smell so bad. Only on the day of our departure, when we took of the sheets, we saw that we were laying on moldy matresses. We also had a lot of pet hair everywhere, which must have been from the last people staying in the Cottage, which also was pretty distasteful. Besides that it is a beautiful cottage which just lacks a lot of stuff. Especially in the kitchen. For someone like me, who loves to cook, it was rather difficult due to lacking equipment. The dishwasher wasnt working aswell and was only replaced after a couple of days. I would not return here.

We had a wonderful week in this lovely cottage that has been renovated with love and great focus on details.Things we liked most about the house and the location:- the wooden bench in the bay window, especially at those beautiful sunsets- the evenings at the open fireplace- the bench in front of the house with this great sea view- the quiet nights without any sound - no cars, no crowing rooster, no bleating cow, no noisy touristsWhen we had a little incident and called our hosts for help they left the movie theater and drove the 30 minute back from Portree immediately to help us. When we thanked them and regretted that they couldn’t finish the movie they replied: „We can go to the movie theater again soon and see the end of this movie. But you are on the Isle of Skye only once.“This attitude describes the hospitality we experienced. But we hope we come back again someday. And if we come back, we will stay at the Auld Mission Cottage again.

We had a great 2 night stay in this cottage. The house is well appointed, very well located, with magnificent views of the cliffs and the sea, surrounded by pastures and sheep. The bedrooms and living room are very pleasant. The kitchen is well equipped. Teresa and Angus were lovely and helpful. Everything was perfect.

An idyllic cottage surrounded by an idyllic setting. We spent a week in beautiful Skye and our vacation was only enhanced by Teresa's kindness. The fresh flowers, muffins, bottle of wine and all her suggestions on walks, restaurants and life on Skye made it complete. Their cottage is beautifully set up with comfortable beds and linens to a wonderful new kitchen and bathroom. We will book with Teresa again. She is a class act! Thank you for making our first experience in Skye a wonderful one. The cottage and everything were perfect. Thank you!

We arrived at the Cottage with a good idea of what it would be like from the information when we booked but the reality surpassed our expectations. The cottage is cosy, spacious and light with fantastic views. The ‘welcome’ goodies that were there on our arrival were an added bonus. It is a great location to explore the island and wildlife - we spotted an otter half a mile away from the cottage and saw Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles on our travels.
