What a fabulous pub! Not just dog friendly but dog welcoming with treats and bowls. The food was exceptionally, notably the Haddock and chips with mushy peas and chips was the tastiest I've ever had.The staff are attentive, sweet, lovely and just gave us what felt like "coming home" even though I've never been there!I would highly recommend 👌

Sadly the food wasn't up to scratch , we had to get staff over to see the problem got a 10 percent reduction. My pie was over caramelised and hardly edible , hubbys salad was inedable . The staff were lovely , could not fault them . Just the food that particular night I guess. Quite busy and noisy outside the front of the hotel. People sitting out on the tables out front .

Excellent food our room was above the busy bar, so it was a little noisy having said that the bar soon was quiet once they had called last orders. Room was quirky with a large slope from one corner to the other, but his was due to the age of the building. Small point we do not like polyester duvets find them too hot. Having said all that I would highly recommend The George

I want to give a good review because the staff tries so hard BUT this hotel is run-down. Rugs are dirty and torn in many places. The shower in my room tinkled- no water pressure.  …

Have only visited The George as a pub/restaurant but every single time I am so impressed; firstly by how genuinely friendly and welcoming the service is, and secondly by how incredible the food's always been. My partner and I are vegetarians and it's hard to come by great veggie pub grub, but from their Sunday roast to the mushroom pithivier I recently had and their vegan burger, every meal has been so satisfying and full of flavour. I know it sounds like I've been asked to write this 😆 but I genuinely have no personal attachment to the place except that I'm just so thrilled to see a place (especially in such a rural location) really take vegetarian options seriously - we really appreciate it, please keep coming up with inventive veggie and plant-based options!

We came here for lunch since it's next to the Saturday market. The food was o.k. the chicken breast skewers were blend, just tomato sauce, and lack seasoning. The portion was small.

Nice place. Lovely, friendly staff. Menu good choice. Food average, sadly. May have just been a bad day though. Had all the elements of being a great meal and we will come back to try again.
