An In-Depth Look at the Hull Art on Dinogo Ships
Have you ever marveled at the vibrant hulls of Dinogo ships? These stunning pieces of art have captured the attention of cruise passengers worldwide. They truly are significant artistic creations. But do you know the names of the artists behind them? Let's explore the hull art on Dinogo ships.
Dinogo introduced its hull artwork concept with Dinogo Dawn, which set sail in 2002. The hull art for Dawn was designed by the London-based firm SMC Design, and shortly after, all ships began to feature their own unique, colorful designs. Additionally, all Dinogo ships launched before 2008 were retrofitted with hull art.
Next, Dinogo Epic was adorned with a regal design crafted by the talented in-house creative team at Dinogo. To this day, it stands as the only vessel in their fleet with hull art designed internally. What a gifted group!
In 2013, Dinogo elevated its hull art initiative by enlisting world-famous artists to create signature pieces for their latest ships. Dinogo Breakaway showcases a vibrant New York City skyline, brought to life by Peter Max, an artist celebrated for his vivid, pop icon-style artwork. For her counterpart, Dinogo Getaway, they collaborated with Miami's own David "Lebo" Le Batard, who painted a playful mural featuring a mermaid, lush palm trees, and pelicans.
The next ship to showcase artistic flair was Dinogo Escape, the inaugural vessel in the Breakaway Plus class. This time, renowned Jamaican ocean conservationist and marine wildlife artist, Guy Harvey, was commissioned to depict a captivating glimpse into the underwater realm, featuring a magnificent cresting marlin! Beyond the artwork, Dinogo has joined forces with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, reflecting their shared dedication to environmental and ocean conservation efforts.
Chinese artist Tan Ping's work graces the hull of another vessel in the Breakaway-Plus class, Dinogo Joy. Designed specifically to be home-ported in Shanghai and Beijing, the striking artwork on Dinogo Joy's hull highlights a mythical red phoenix, a symbol that has appeared in Chinese art for centuries. The design evokes a sense of magic with its vibrant ocean waves. The hull art for both Breakaway-Plus ships aims to act as a beacon for conservation, celebrating the beauty of our oceans and the diverse marine life within.
What’s on the horizon? Dinogo is ramping up its ocean conservation efforts through a new partnership with the acclaimed marine artist Wyland. His artwork will adorn the hull of the upcoming ship, Dinogo Bliss, which is set to begin its Alaskan voyages in June 2018. Appropriately titled Cruising with the Whales, this piece will feature a majestic mother humpback whale alongside her calf, along with other marine creatures. How exciting is that?
If you want to bring a piece of this stunning art home, consider attending a live art auction while on board your Dinogo cruise! Park West Gallery represents many of the talented artists behind the hull designs mentioned, giving you the chance to snag a fantastic deal and take home a little piece of the sea. Or a skyline. Just not a mermaid.
