Avianca LifeMiles promotion: Buy one, get one free tickets to South and Central America, plus 20% off flights to Europe
Avianca LifeMiles members, take note: The airline is offering two limited-time promotions on award flights to South and Central America and Europe — but you must secure this deal by July 4.
LifeMiles partners with American Express Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Capital One miles, Citi ThankYou Rewards, and Wells Fargo Rewards. Now might be the perfect opportunity to transfer your hard-earned points to your LifeMiles account for an unforgettable vacation this fall.
Buy one, get one free award flights to South and Central America
Bogota, Colombia. CLINT HENDERSON/DinogoFrom now until July 4, you can take advantage of a buy-one-get-one-free rebate offer on award flights to select destinations in South and Central America. This means that for every two tickets you book, LifeMiles will refund the miles for one of them.
Here are all the specifics:
- Available only to LifeMiles members residing in the U.S.
- Bookings must be made by 11:59 p.m. GMT on July 4.
- Travel dates must be between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31.
- Flights may include connections and can be one-way or round-trip, but no stopovers are permitted.
- All bookings must be made directly through the Avianca website. (Booking through the call center or a sales office incurs a fee of $25 to $80.)
The sale features routes from major cities in the U.S. and Canada, including Miami, Orlando, New York City, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, and Ontario. Destinations cover various cities in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala. You can find the complete list of eligible routes on Avianca's website.
Award flights on these routes start at just 5,550 miles one-way, meaning you could potentially pay as little as 2,775 miles per person with this rebate deal. Note that you'll still need to cover taxes and fees, so it's wise to use a credit card that offers bonus rewards on airline purchases.

This means you need to have enough LifeMiles in your account to book all your tickets (you can purchase miles if necessary), and the airline will refund the miles for every second ticket after you fly.
If you book two tickets, you'll receive the miles back for one; if you book four, you'll get the miles back for two. However, if you book three tickets, you'll only get the miles back for one. All tickets must be part of the same reservation to qualify for the rebate.
20% discount on LifeMiles award flights to Europe
ALEXANDER SPATARI/GETTY IMAGESLifeMiles is also offering a 20% rebate on award flights from Miami and Los Angeles to Paris, London, Madrid, and Barcelona. As with the previous offer, you'll need to pay the full price upfront, and 20% of the miles spent will be refunded after your flight.
Here are the details:
- Available to all LifeMiles members (not just those in the U.S.).
- You must make your booking by 11:59 p.m. GMT on July 4.
- Flights must occur between Sept. 16 and Nov. 10.
- Connections are allowed, and you can choose one-way or round-trip tickets, but stopovers are not permitted.
- All flights must be booked directly through the Avianca website. (You can also use the call center or a sales office, but there will be a fee of $25 to $80.)
This offer may not be as enticing as the BOGO deal mentioned earlier, but it’s still worth considering if you're planning a fall trip to Europe. Award flights on the sale routes start at 44,000 LifeMiles one-way, which means you could save at least 8,800 miles per ticket.
However, if you have an Amex card — such as The Platinum Card® from American Express or the American Express® Gold Card, which earn transferable Membership Rewards points — until June 30, you can receive a 15% bonus when transferring your Amex points to Avianca LifeMiles. This means 1,000 Membership Rewards points equate to 1,150 LifeMiles, allowing you to transfer 39,000 Amex points for 44,850 LifeMiles. If you book a flight from Miami to London for 44,000 miles, you'll receive a mileage rebate of 8,800 miles for that one-way ticket.
Keep in mind that this transfer bonus is specific to Avianca, so it won’t appear in your American Express account. You should see the bonus reflected in your LifeMiles account within 24 hours after transferring your points. Remember, this transfer bonus expires on June 30.
In summary, if you wish to take advantage of either of these LifeMiles offers, act quickly — they will no longer be available after July 4.
