Away’s 2022 Holiday Collection Is a Blast from the Past

The 2022 Away Holiday Collection is sold out, but Away’s 2023 Holiday Collection debuted on October 24, 2023.

This year, Away launched its 2022 holiday collection earlier than ever. The direct-to-consumer luggage brand has already introduced two limited-edition luggage lines inspired by the nostalgia of the ’90s and Y2K. If that’s not your style (pun intended), just before Thanksgiving, Away will unveil a multicolored version of its new outdoor-focused duffle bag. Prices range from $20 for organizational pouches to $385 for a large suitcase. Check out more details about each new collection below.

The ’90s Pop Collection

The ‘90s Pop collection, launched on October 18, is already selling out quickly. This line features two new styles of Away’s beloved polycarbonate shell luggage. The “Psych!” design—a multicolored swirl pattern—has sold out and evokes the resurgence of 1960s fashion in the 1990s, while “Jinx!” boasts a color-blocked pink and red design with navy accents, reminiscent of the bubblegum pop music of that time. (Can’t you just picture Britney carrying this to her “Baby One More Time” music video shoot?)

The ’90s collection also features a packable sling bag and organizational pouches that complement the new luggage. Additionally, there are vegan leather “charms” shaped like hearts, stars, and lightning bolts available to attach to your luggage tags. Each accessory is priced under $55, making them perfect gifts for frequent travelers.

The Y2K Collection

On November 10, Away unveiled its Y2K-inspired collection of polycarbonate suitcases, available in three new colors—Cyber (black), Bling (white), and Dotcom (blue)—all featuring a shiny, pearlized finish, along with matching luggage tag charms.

As someone who turned 13 in 2000, I’m incredibly disappointed that we aren’t getting a range of candy-colored, see-through suitcases that remind me of the rainbow-hued iMacs and translucent lime-green GameBoys from my millennial childhood. Away, if you create that, I would purchase it before you can say Destiny’s Child three times in a row.
