Starting this February, Southwest Airlines passengers will experience red-eye flights for the very first time.
This signifies a significant change in scheduling for the airline, coinciding with numerous other adjustments at Southwest as part of a strategy to enhance profitability.
The initial set of red-eye flights will launch on February 13 across five routes, arriving at their destinations on the morning of February 14.
By mid-April, Southwest will operate red-eye flights on 20 routes, including five connecting Hawaii to the U.S. West Coast.

Southwest is enhancing efficiency by introducing overnight flights, allowing planes to operate during times they would normally be grounded, effectively adding capacity comparable to 18 aircraft in its 2025 schedule.
During an investor presentation on Thursday, Southwest explained that this strategy aims to "boost revenue without increasing aircraft numbers or staffing."

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) will serve as Southwest's primary hub for red-eye flights on the East Coast, expecting overnight arrivals from six destinations by early March.
Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas will host the largest selection of eastbound red-eye flights, servicing five destinations. Additionally, it will handle three of Southwest's five overnight flights connecting Hawaii to the U.S. mainland.
