Disney's Blizzard Beach is set to reopen soon with a refreshed 'Frozen' theme
Disney's Blizzard Beach water park has been undergoing renovations since January 2022. Today, Disney finally announced the reopening date for the park, along with some even more thrilling updates.
If you've ever been to Blizzard Beach, you know it's one of the most uniquely themed water parks for families. Disney World's Imagineers created an imaginative backstory for the park, designing an attraction that brings a ski resort to life, complete with polar-themed rides and attractions in the sweltering Florida heat.
COURTNEY KIEFER/WALT DISNEY WORLDA water park that's already blanketed in snow and ice is the ideal backdrop for characters from Disney's blockbuster animated film "Frozen," and that's precisely what Disney has been working on during the park's extended closure.
COURTNEY KIEFER/WALT DISNEY WORLDWhen Blizzard Beach welcomes guests back on November 13, 2022, children can enjoy splashing, sliding, and playing in front of Anna and Elsa's frosty igloo castle alongside beloved "Frozen" characters like Olaf and his charming companions, the Snowgies.
WALT DISNEY WORLDBeyond the adorable characters, Blizzard Beach features exhilarating thrills and record-breaking attractions. Adventurous guests who dare to take on Summit Plummet — a 120-foot-high waterslide designed like a ski jump — can reach speeds of up to 65 mph. This matches the top speed on Epcot's Test Track, making them the fastest rides at Disney World.
WALT DISNEY WORLDStretching 3,000 feet, Blizzard Beach's lazy river, Cross Country Creek, ranks among the longest in the nation. It takes about 30 minutes to complete the entire route, but there are several stops along the way if you wish to hop off and race your friends down the park's Toboggan Racers slide, designed in a slalom style.
WALT DISNEY WORLDDisney will reintroduce beloved treats from Blizzard Beach, such as the Sand Pail Sundae (served in a pail and shovel you can keep), while also launching exciting new frozen delights like the adults-only Orange Slope Dole Whip Swirl and the Melt-A-Way Margarita.
For your next Disney World vacation, you can visit Blizzard Beach water park by either buying a one-day water park ticket or a theme park ticket with the Park Hopper Plus option or Water Park and Sports option. Unlike the theme parks, you don’t need to select a date for your visit in advance, and water park reservations aren't necessary.
The reopening of Blizzard Beach on November 13 will coincide with a temporary closure of Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park, which will also undergo refurbishment and reopen at a later date.
