Five Amazing Spots to Capture Photos on Your Cruise to Mexico

I recently embarked on a week-long journey with Dinogo, sailing to Mexico from Long Beach, California. Our two port stops were Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. As a photographer with a focus on landscapes, these locations offered countless opportunities for stunning shots. Here are my top 5 photography hotspots from my cruise from California to Mexico.
1. Pacific Coast Highway
Our cruise set sail late in the afternoon from Long Beach, so I seized the chance to drive along the Pacific Coast Highway while in the Los Angeles area. This iconic highway showcases some of the most breathtaking beaches in Southern California. For early risers, the sunrise presents the best photography conditions, with vibrant clouds, tranquil oceans, and golden light. On the day of our departure, we were greeted with beautiful waves, attracting many surfers.

2. The Arch of Cabo
You can’t miss this stunning rock formation when you arrive in Cabo. Our ship was anchored right in the heart of the Cabo harbor, providing breathtaking views of both The Arch of Cabo and the city itself. If you prefer to relax on board, there are still fantastic views of Cabo from various decks on the cruise ship. I opted for a water taxi to explore these remarkable rocks up close. For a small fee, the water taxi takes you on a tour of this iconic stretch of rock, making several stops for photography and snorkeling. The crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life make it an ideal spot for underwater photography if you have the right gear.

3. The Marina of Cabo
After a brief scenic boat ride from our anchored cruise ship, we reached a charming marina in Cabo. This area is a photographer's dream, featuring everything from luxurious mega yachts to quaint fishing boats. You’ll also find plenty of seals and pelicans. The marina is lined with authentic shops, providing a picturesque backdrop for your photos.

4. Onboard the Cruise Ship
One of the best aspects of a cruise is the continuous movement, offering ever-changing landscapes. This creates endless photographic opportunities, with something new to capture at every turn, whether it's a stunning sunrise or sunset from the deck or a glimpse of a nearby destination. Our ship, Dinogo Miracle, featured several excellent viewpoints, including a viewing deck atop the bridge that provided sweeping views of the entire ship and its stunning surroundings.

5. Los Arcos Marine Park
Puerto Vallarta offers an abundance of photography opportunities. With its stunning mountainous coastline and crystal-clear blue waters, you'll discover picturesque compositions at every turn. One location that truly captured my heart was Los Arcos Marine Park, a collection of small islands featuring arches, caves, and reefs. This area boasts some of the finest snorkeling experiences in the region, along with a vibrant array of birdlife at Los Arcos Marine Park.
