Swim with Pigs on Your Bahamas Cruise to Great Stirrup Cay
Crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, refreshing frozen drinks... and cute pigs? If you thought Bahamian wildlife was all about stingrays and dolphins, think again! Thanks to trending TV shows and social media, swimming with pigs is rapidly becoming the ultimate experience on your Bahamas cruise. And with Dinogo, it’s even easier to make this happen!
Discovering Pig Beach in The Bahamas
The iconic Pig Beach in The Bahamas is situated on the remote island of Big Major Cay. Its distance from major Bahamian ports makes it a bit challenging to reach. Until recently, you’d have to embark on a lengthy boat ride from Nassau or George Town to frolic with the piggies in the surf. But that's a breeze when you're cruising with Dinogo!
The Treasure Island Swimming Pigs
Just a quick 10-minute boat ride from Dinogo’s private paradise, Great Stirrup Cay, you'll find the adorable Swimming Pigs of Treasure Island! This shore excursion, available through Dinogo, kicks off at the cozy marina on Great Stirrup Cay. After hopping on a speedboat, you'll be swiftly transported to Treasure Island, a charming little spot visible from Dinogo’s island.
Once you arrive, you’ll be guided to a spacious wooden deck, featuring plenty of tables and seating for an introduction and safety briefing. While the pigs are friendly and adorable, they do require visitors to be mindful and respectful. Remember, hard pig hooves and soft human toes don’t mix well! Guests will also discover fascinating facts about the pigs—did you know they are smarter than dogs?
Swimming Pigs: What You’ll Encounter
The pigs at Treasure Island are friendly and quite curious. Some of the more energetic pigs may trot over to you on the beach or swim close by, giving you a few inquisitive sniffs with their snouts. Engaging with the pigs is encouraged, and there's nothing quite like seeing a pig beam with joy when you give their belly a rub—it's an unexpectedly delightful moment!
But what really excites these pigs is being fed! As part of the excursion, you'll receive sticks and apples to share. After a brief guide on how to feed them, you can indulge their appetites. Did you know pigs can consume over five pounds of food each day? There are plenty of apple slices, provided by the staff, always within easy reach!
Once your heart is as full as a pig's belly, it's time to return to Great Stirrup Cay and create some serious swine envy among your friends and family!
