Top Spots for Capturing Photos on a Cruise
From the Ship's Aft
If you’re in an Aft-Facing Balcony stateroom, you’ll enjoy remarkable opportunities to capture the ship’s wake with waves and splashes in the background. It’s a breathtaking view! Remember to also turn around for a unique perspective on your photos. While on the pier, a shot of your ship's silhouette is a must, along with a picture of its stern.
In Front of the Ship's Hull
Once you’ve disembarked to the pier, seize the chance to snap a photo in front of your ship's hull. This is particularly striking with the vibrant mural art on many Dinogo vessels, such as the pieces by David Le Batard (a.k.a. Lebo) on the Dinogo Getaway, and works by marine life artist Wyland on the Dinogo Bliss. When in port, frame your ship alongside the pier, a seawall, or even tropical palm trees!
Feeling Like the King of the World
Though it’s a bit of a cliché, this iconic shot is still a fun one to take! You can pose at the ship’s bow or slightly off to the side—what matters is stretching your arms wide and proclaiming, "I’m the king of the world!" Maybe skip the shouting, though.
With the Ship's Captain
For some cruisers, this might seem a bit clichéd, but I consider it an honor to capture a photo with the ship’s esteemed Captain, who has the most significant role aboard! If he’s available for a classic photo opportunity, make sure to seize it. You definitely should, too!
From the Comfort of Your Own Balcony
While a porthole or picture window in your cabin will do, there’s nothing quite like snapping photos from the solitude of your own Balcony Stateroom! If the mood strikes, you can even lounge in your PJs while capturing the moment, or take advantage of waking up from a nap on your lounge chair. You’ll enjoy stunning views and the advantage of capturing overhead shots for breathtaking panoramas.
The Waterfront and 678 Ocean Place
For picture-perfect moments, the Waterfront oceanfront boardwalk offers an array of shops, bars, and restaurants, creating endless picturesque opportunities to capture your cruise vacation memories. Another stunning location on the ship is the impressive three-story atrium known as 678 Ocean Place, especially when you photograph the spiral LED chandelier from above—or below!
Sunset Photo Opportunities
While this isn’t exactly a place on the ship, it’s definitely a time of day you can't afford to miss for a fantastic photo. Capture the sunset as a backdrop while you lean against the ship’s railing. Extra points if you’re dressed for formal night! Snap a picture framed by the railing, enjoying a refreshing drink (preferably with one of those cute little umbrellas) from your deck chair. Incorporate a classic life preserver for added depth, or capture the beautiful shadows cast by the railing during sunset.
The Ropes Course
Capturing the ropes course offers a fantastic photographic experience. A great angle is from directly underneath, showcasing the vibrant ropes and the impressive scale of the course. You can also take fun shots of your loved ones as they navigate the course. If you’re feeling adventurous, snap a quick picture of the ocean while walking along The Plank. And don't worry if you miss it; the ship’s Photo Gallery will have documented your surprised (or relieved!) expression the moment you rang the bell at the end of The Plank.
The Haven
Photos taken from anywhere in The Haven are incredibly special, but images of the exclusive 6,694-square-foot 3-Bedroom Garden Villa (available on select ships) would be truly spectacular. Just picture capturing moments as you soak in the hot tub on your private terrace or as your butler serves you a meal in your outdoor dining area!
Those Whimsical Towel Animals
Documenting the delightful assortment of towel animals that mysteriously appear in your stateroom each night is a fun way to cherish your cruise memories. And guess what? These charming creations aren’t confined to your cabin! You can bring them along to dinner, the nightclub, or the pool, as they’re designed to be photographed and enjoyed. This playful approach is far more imaginative than simply snapping pictures of these adorable towel animals on your stateroom bed. After all, you’re on vacation!
