A magnificent stay in Marie and Fadill's Guest house. We stayed 5 days and Marie organized all the activities for us (trek, taxi, cooking lessons, etc.). Everything was of high quality and without any unpleasant surprises. A big thank you to both of you for your welcome and your kindness. The bonus, the visit of two Orangutans on the other side of the bank, visible from the terrace. We recommend 100%

Returned to the same place after 5 years. I still choose to stay here. Owned and operated by local villagers experienced in eco tourism. Not owned by foreign investors or city people. The guide who took us to a 5 days trekking also works here and he really knows about the jungle. The lady in charge and other staff here are very friendly and helpful. Food are excellent and very affordable. No hidden cost, all price are clear. No hot water nor air con, simple room, but a lot of public space for one to chill out comfortably. Rainforest guesthouse is one of the earliest operators here, there are many new luxury accommodation and bars around but if you want to know more about real local cultures, fauna and floras, I recommend here.

Superb stay in this charming establishment!Run by a French woman and her husband. They are really awesome and accommodating!The rooms are OK, no worries there. Little extra for the "terraces" with armchairs or hammock. 👍

We can’t thank Marie and Fadill enough for our stay! We stayed for 8 nights and they organised jungle trekking and to go see the Titan flower blooming nearby.This place is right on the main strip with plenty of restaurant options. You can cool off in the river and even spot Orangutans from the balcony (video attached).This family is so kind and made us feel at home in Bukit Lawang.Thank you! 🙏

Spacious room, enough for a mattress on the floor for 2nd child. Very clean. Fans, but no a/c. Beds a bit creaky, but comfortable in the firm SE Asian style. Host very friendly. Nice view and balcony space with chairs/lounger was a nice bonus.

The guest house is beautifully located, we had rooms with terrace and hammock, to enjoy the view of the hill covered in jungle. The view from the roof-top, from which you have breakfast while watching the monkeys pass by, is absolutely beautiful. If the comfort of the rooms is simple but more than sufficient (but no hot water), the welcome by Marie, her husband and her son is so friendly that you have the impression of being with family.There are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby and also the possibility of having laundry washed in the neighborhood, as well as guided tours to see the orangutans. They can also organize transport to and from Medan.

Marie and Fadill were like a second family: very friendly, very helpful, verythoughtful. Both prior to our stay and during our stay at Riverside they gave us a lot of information and advice.Highly recommended.Also watching the monkeys from the roof terrace.Thank you for the very nice stay, the organized guide for the jungle trek and the tips about places to visit in the village.

We have had several stays in Bukit Lawang and I recommend this Guesthouse 200%. The rooms are nice, spacious and comfortable, and the best part is the terrace which gives a magnificent view of the river and the jungle. Marie, Fadil and Rayan are incredible hosts, a little family who do everything to make you feel good. They organized a trek for several days for us and everything was perfect. We also took a village tour to discover the making of brown sugar, tofu and tempeh, it was really interesting. We fell in love with Bukit Lawang and it's partly thanks to Marie and her family.

I couldn't hope for better than to be with Marie and Fadil during my month-long stay in Bukit Lawang.In practical terms, we are getting very good value for money. The rooms have everything you need for a short or long stay and are very clean. There is a small terrace with hammock for each of them. No, there is no hot water, like almost everywhere in Bukit Lawang. Yes, you eventually get used to it 😅If you are really sensitive, as I am to light, in the morning, bring an eye mask, otherwise, curtains are sufficient.Big plus for the roof terrace with views of the jungle, the village, the river, and the monkeys as guests (you may even have the chance to observe orangutans). Be careful, it's difficult to get out of the hammock in these conditions because we're so comfortable there 🏞️😍But above all, it is the warmth of Marie, Fadil and their son that makes you feel at home. They are absolutely wonderful people, very kind and caring. Very accommodating and open, they are available when needed and are happy to share their experiences and advice here.I didn't go through them for my trek in the jungle, but Padil will be able to talk to you with passion about his project on the edge of the jungle in order to preserve it and educate the population to protect it. They also offer to spend the day there (or even sleep there) and to live a new experience in the jungle by participating in tree planting. I highly recommend, it was a great day!Thank you again 1000 times for this wonderful stay with you, and see you soon I hope 😍
