We stayed with Sam for 3 nights. We arranged the transfer from the airport through Sam. Very nice, especially the second driver to Berastagi was pleasant and told us a lot about the area. We were allowed to leave our backpacks behind for a small fee when we went on a multi-day jungle trek. The employees are incredibly friendly and helpful! We were picked up from the taxi in the pouring rain and escorted with umbrellas to the guesthouse. The food is good and the location is very beautiful. We slept in the 20 and 40 euro room, they were both fine!

Sam's Bungalows and Restaurant are highly recommended.Our family really enjoyed staying and eating here.The place is cool, beautiful, the rooms are very nice like a 5 star hotel and the food is also delicious.You won't regret being here and you definitely won't want to go home feeling so at home, because the service is very good.Continued success for Sam's Bungalows.

A beautiful room with a view of the river! Had a great 2D1N trek with Rama and Henry! Very good guide and delicious food! Rama is a real local and knows a lot about the jungle. Also saw a hornbill and several orangutans. Highly recommended to book a jungle trekking here!

Assalamualaikum.....Alhamdulillah, I have subscribed to stay here.If you've already stayed here, you'll be too lazy to go home.The service is good, the rooms are neatly clean, the food is also delicious especially the owner is friendly.Continue success, Sams Bungalow.Come on, if you want to go on holiday to Bukit Lawang, just stay here and we're guaranteed to feel at home.Not inferior to a five star hotel.

Had a great experience before and after our orangutan trek. The bed was super comfy, the best we’ve had in all of Indonesia. The room was clean and large and comfy. There is hot water in the shower. There is a hammock for relaxing and a clothes drying rack outside the room. No AC but there is a fan in the room and we stayed cool with no issues.We arrived very late due to a delayed flight and they coordinated with our guide company for a check in when we arrived around midnight.The only minor issue is there is soap and shampoo in the shower but no hand soap dispenser or bar for hand washing at the small sink.Overall excellent experience. Would recommend.

The restaurant, the room, and the trekking were really nice, well organised, funny, beautiful. The staff is super organised and they manage so well our confort and sportive experience and that we can see a lot of Orang Utangs! They also cool to good! I can only recommend for 100% this hotel!

Really nice english speaking crew and great experience. We went with Sam's Guides (Rama and Henry) in the jungle and we saw 12 orang utan. They prepared awesome meals, we played cool games in the evening and they were very supportive. We can fully recommend the hotel!

We are a family of three, travelling with our 16 year old son.An absolutely wonderful place to stay and organise all aspects of your stay in Bukit Lawang. Sam’s Bungalows took care of us from the moment we made our booking until the end of our stay. They can organise all trips and treks for you in advance, arrange all transportation, including airport pickup to onward travel. Sam, and his staff, are so friendly and welcoming and really care that you have a great stay - their personal touch to everything really shows.Our room was very comfortable and stylish, clean linen and towels, modern bathroom and a balcony, with hammock, offering a lovely view of the river and valley. The location is towards the end of the village, which is slightly quieter, but a very short walk to the other restaurants and shops. Food in the restaurant was excellent and good value.I can highly recommend letting Sam organise your jungle trek. He has his own guides, we went with Andre who made the trek extremely enjoyable and could answer all your questions. Special mention to the cook who made a stunning meal at the jungle camp. He can also organise the trip to the elephant sanctuary, including driver, and all can be organised in advance via email.We have travelled extensively and would 100% recommend Sam’s Bungalows - if we re- visit Bukit Lawang we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

If you're staying in Bukit Lawang then you'll want to know about this restaurant. They open early for breakfast at 7am. The food is amazing and really well presented. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable and the team go the extra mile to make your meal enjoyable.We went back for breakfasts, lunches, dinners. The fruit juices are particularly good !

We were recommended to stay here at Sam’s Bungalow to enjoy a relaxing experience.We were treated really well and received great services from staff.Being in a scenic and secluded area added to the perfect atmosphere.When we arrived the rooms were already cold and ready to stay in with a comfortable and soft bed. The bathrooms were very clean and inviting.Coming to Sam’s Bungalow was AWESOME and I recommend to anyone to stay here.

If you've never been to see the endangered orangutans in the rain forest, you really need to go now. Sam's Bungalow is situated at the tip of the bend of the lazy river. Only a couple of accommodations have this panoramic view from their restaurant. The staff here treat you like family, calling you by your first name and are super accommodating to what ever your needs may be. We kept changing our plans of how many days we are staying and they made it work. Highly recommend their restaurant, it is the busiest one on the strip.

My wife and I were staying at the Bukit Lawang Cottages at the end of May 2024. We were seeking to make a Gin & Tonic cocktail to enjoy on our patio, but we did not have any tonic water. We stopped at a few small shops close by, but there was none to be found. We finally asked a shopkeeper if they knew anyone local who had tonic water. Sam’s Restaurant was the recommendation and sure enough, they had tonic water!As we were preparing to head back to our lodging, we met Sam and had a very engaging conversation with him. We enjoyed meeting him and promised that we would come have dinner at his restaurant the following evening. The food and the service were excellent. Sure enough, Sam turned up and he sat down to chat with us. It was a fantastic experience and it really shows that Sam makes every effort to make it great for all of his guests.If you are in Bukit Lawang, I highly recommend Sam’s Restaurant!
