Can’t even wrap my head around this 🤯 do the kayak tour through the caves, we stumbled upon this in late September were the only ones we saw the whole time, we had the entire cave and river to ourselves.

This place ran the most amazing cave tour I could imagine. We arrived at 3pm to check into a room and let them know we wanted to go on a cave tour, and they had guides ready within half an hour. We kayaked THROUGH the cave, which was massive and beautiful. We saw hundreds of thousands of swallows entering the cave for the evening, and then kayaked through some truly insane rapids. After, we are lovely food at their tree house. Incredible place for the outdoorsy, adventure types!

Had a great time here.We spent 2 nights in the dorm, 150baht per person per night. The setting is beautiful, you're in a tree house overlooking the river. While we were there it rained heavily and it felt very cosy next to the fire.We took the kayaking cave tour and the set off point was right in front of the lodge. The cave tour itself was great, the guides spoke a little English and could convey some information about the cave, but the caves themselves are so beautiful they need little explanation. We basically had the caves to ourselves, I think because it was the wet season and the normal bamboo rafts cannot access these places. Also because it was the wet season I believe, we had 1 guide per kayak as a security. There were lots of other tours which all sounded interesting, you could easily spend a week or two here if you have the interest and the cash to explore. Each tour was around at least 1000baht from memory with some requiring a minimum amount of people. The other guests in the lodge were nice and had a good friendly vibe, I think this place attracts these kinds of people.Staff were nice and eager to make you comfortable.Last is that this place has a good legacy with the owner, John Spies, being a bit of a pioneer in the local caves. He has a book that I read half of, which was veeeery good and I recommend to read or purchase. I wish I could have bought, but I am travelling light. My only complaint is the food - compared to my travels in Thailand it seemed expensive and not such big portions (expect 100baht minimum per meal). There are signs saying not to bring outside food or drink into the lodge. I would like it if they could make the food bigger, or maybe make it free/100baht discount on the meal after you take a trek/kayak with them. After an excursion it would be nice to know that you can eat a big meal and your wallet won't suffer too much for it :)Anyway, thank you for the great stay, it will be a top memory from Thailand for me!

The address of Cave Lodge is super confusing. It is in Soppong whuch is also known as Pang Mapha which could also be Mae Hong Song (the town). Either way there is one 1 Cave Lodge and its in a town 45 kms from Pai. You could even make up your own name of the town just to keep travelling interesting.

Atypical hotel 5 minutes walk from Nam Lod Cave (which is definitely worth the detour). A hotel immersed in nature, with a large common area that gives us the impression of being perched in a wooden treehouse 🥰Really welcoming and very helpful staff, super quality food, a favorite for this hotel ❤️ I recommend!

We chose Cave Lodge for its wild side and its activities and we were not disappointed!Arriving late, the restaurant closed at 8 p.m., Pookkie or Cookkie for short, gave us a smiling welcome. She even offered us dinner even though it was late. We had bought some local dishes while passing a small house and it was no problem. We took possession of our bungalow with precarious comfort as indicated in the description: a bed made up of two mattresses pushed together, a private bathroom with shower and toilet. That's all we needed! Don't look for a cabinet, shelves or drawers, there aren't any!Not knowing if others besides us would be up for a 2-day trek, we had initially only booked one night. It was easy to extend for two more!On the first evening, Cookkie alerted us that a solo traveler was considering a tour of three caves as offered on their site and offered us to join him if we wanted, which reduced the cost for each to 1200 baht at instead of 3600. And there we go!What a day! From 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., an invigorating walk punctuated by beautiful climbs but also some incredible descents in the heart of the surrounding jungle. And what an experience to visit these caves in caving mode, at the steady but patient pace of our guide, Ten! We returned exhausted but delighted. Even more so after visiting the Nam Lod caves the next day by bamboo raft, too touristy and lacking in authenticity but the aches and pains got the better of us 😅.You will eat homemade and typical Thai dishes but don't expect to find desserts here. This is not offered on the menu provided. Don't hesitate to ask for small versions of Thai beers because naturally they serve the XXL format in bottles when the others are served in cans.Waking up to the songs of unknown and invisible birds really has its effect, as does the sound of the river, which is very low in this season. Fullness, calm and nature reign here.We enjoyed a Thai massage provided by a woman who we later learned was Ten's wife. A marvel for 300 baht.I read in some comments that you could find unpleasant staff here, this was not the case for us, quite the contrary. Rather discreet, polite, friendly and smiling people. My broken English always allowed us to understand each other. Even in our email exchanges before our arrival. In short, come, you will not be disappointed! We warmly thank the entire Cabe Lodge team for our stay far from our Parisian life.

What a unique place to stay! I felt like swiss family robinson here in the treehouse man area. the staff is super friendly and we even got to meet the legendary John. We highly suggest buying his memoir because 30+ years in northern thailand makes for some excellent stories. The beds were comfy and i slept well here. We were a short walk from Tham Lod, and we were able to squeeze in an extra tour here the morning before we left! Cave lodge is awesome!

Exceptional: not to be missed in Thailand, beautiful, good, clean, friendly, accommodating, treks, kayaking, all for a very reasonable price, a family delight, nature and dream cuisine, mm if not local: the best fish & chips in the world!Oh I forgot, also the best fried chicken in the world! Ok, I stop.
