HORRIBLE STAY.I am no stranger to traveling. I have traveled all over the world. My stay here was one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a hotel. First let me say I do not write a lot of reviews and the ones I do are positive because good service deserves to be highlighted for travelers. Now for the positive: The Salana Hotel is very nice. The rooms are good size and have hard wood floors. The staff is friendly and it is located in a good area.So Why the bad review? My first day there I was working on my computer in the morning. I went out to do an errand and left my computer on the bed. When I returned I saw my room and had been cleaned. Then I noticed there was a big dent on the top of the computer and when I opened it the screen was completely broken. I took it down the street to the local computer store and they told me the only way that could happen was if it was dropped. When I informed the hotel staff I was met with smiles and giggles. For some reasons they thought it was funny. They said the housekeeper swore it wasn’t her. Well it sure as hell wasn’t me, So I had no choice but quickly buy a new computer.I am back the hotel now working. It is 6:15 PM and for some reason they have started doing construction in the room above me (this has gone on the last 4 days). The next day return to hotel and they are doing work on the electrical so the entire building has no power. No elevator. No lights. No air conditioning. Nothing. Staying at this hotel is an adventure and I do not mean that in a positive way. Everyday you don’t know what new thing this hotel will throw at you.So if you want a nice hotel in a good area the Salana is great. If you like your personal items broken and the sound of drilling and hammering in the evening and having no electricity you’ll like it even more.

Wonderful staff, great location. The room was fantastic (although we did upgrade) with an oversized bed, balcony overlooking the city and lounge area. Lots of places to eat and drink within walking distance as well as museums and temples. Felt very safe and friendly.

The location and breakfast were good, but the building is quite old, making it very noisy. The furniture is also very old and should be replaced. Overall, there are better hotels for the price, even with a pool and gym.

I had an excellent stay at the Salana Boutique Hotel in Vientiane. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped, which made my stay very comfortable. The hotel's location is ideal, close to the city's main attractions. The breakfast choice was varied and of good quality, perfect for a good start to the day. The bar at the top of the hotel is also nice. I recommend this hotel for a stay in Vientiane!
