It’s very disappointing to be writing this since they have really good reviews but I think people should know how it really is. The first night I arrived I was briefly explained how the accommodations work and then I put my carry on in my locker. I left the suitcase open since I thought it would be easier to take things out of it that way. But I came back 15 minutes later and there was a cockroach in my suitcase. I have pictures for proof. I wasn’t able to catch it and if there’s one there’s probably more. I told the staff and the guy just apologized without offering a different room or solution. I asked for laundry service and he said I could do laundry if I needed to. That was it. They never talked to me again about the situation. Are they just gonna have people sleep with cockroaches? Overall the place, beds and bathrooms were clean and the bed was comfortable (but hot at night). However they should really check for bug infestation since a lot of people from all over the world are staying there. Other than that the location is very convenient but sadly I will not be returning there. I just hope I am not bringing a plague into my room back home.

The bed was a bit unsatisfactory, but the enthusiastic attitude of the front desk service improved this. It is more suitable for short-term backpackers rather than couples. It is about 9 minutes away from Asakusa Station.

They had very convenient big lockers and all was well maintained. Location was good too, a short walk from lots of restaurants.Showers were only on 1F so a little inconvenient (I was on 3F), but all clean and with shampoo, etc. provided. Each bed had just a single plug and a light but was decently sized and comfortable with good aircon. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The common lobby is clean, but the bed frame in the room is noisy! You can hear all the sounds of other people getting into bed and tossing and turning. I didn't expect it to bother me so much.I couldn't get enough sleep for this price.

I had an incredible stay at Tora Hostel in Asakusa, Tokyo. This charming and immaculately clean hostel is perfectly located just a few minutes’ walk from Asakusa Station, offering easy access to the area while being pleasantly removed from the main tourist spots. Additionally, Honjo-Azumabashi Station is nearby, providing a direct train to Narita Airport. Just be mindful that not all trains stop there, so check the schedules carefully. The atmosphere at Tora Hostel is wonderfully relaxed, quiet, and respectful—perfect for a restful stay. The ground floor workspace, though simple, is more than adequate for a few hours of laptop work, even late into the night. The staff at Tora Hostel are truly exceptional and made my stay unforgettable. The manager greeted me with a warm smile every day and provided invaluable assistance with my ongoing project. Sam at the front desk went above and beyond, always with a big smile and a cheerful “good morning” each day. She also offered countless tips to help me fully enjoy my days in Tokyo. Their genuine hospitality made me feel like I was staying with friends.I was so impressed that I extended my stay to over a month, which speaks volumes about the quality of this hostel. The sleeping arrangements were incredibly comfortable, with a well-thought-out room layout that included two toilets near the entrance, cleverly isolated to ensure no noise disturbance. The large lockers with provided keys added to the convenience and security.Overall, Tora Hostel offers a delightful experience with its fantastic staff, convenient location, and serene environment. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Asakusa, whether for a couple of days or a long stay—you won’t be disappointed!
