Amazing experience. Beautiful inn, spectacular food and the most wonderful family owners. The care the current generation innkeeper took was beyond terrific. Thoughtful and accommodating of many dietary restrictions and willing to go above and beyond to assist. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

The first place we stayed on our Nakasendo walk. Walking distance to the railway station and Hiroshige museum. Hosts were very hospitable and friendly. We didn’t know what to expect for dinner and we were wowed by the 7-8 course meal. Setting the bar high.Next day’s breakfast was good as well. We were fuelled for our first day of long walking.

I have an app that monitors my sleep efficiency and it stated that the sleep at Ichikawa was the best I had for the entire year. The room felt right. This was complemented by the amazing dinner and the cleanliness of the place. I look forward to returning to this amazing place. The 400-year tradition of inn-keeping will continue strong 👍🏼

This was our first night's accommodation on the "Winter Nakasendo Way" with Walk Japan. This historic Inn is managed by 3 generations (the 14th, 15th & 16th generation of the same family!) of Japanese Ladies. …

We spent a night here on our walking tour - it is nice inn but the room we had in the annex was noisy as it was adjacent to the road. The futon was also a bit hard compared to some other futons. …

Blessed to have spent a night in this lovely traditional Japanese Inn. We decided to escape the madness of Tokyo for the weekend with friends. Hired a car from Nagoya so we were able to explore Magome and Iwamura. …
