The old building is taken care of and is kept well-maintained. The leaded glass is also shiny. The calligraphy by Hirobumi Ito and Kinmochi Saionji, as well as the paintings, pulls, and hidden nails on the sliding doors are all worth seeing. It looks like it was built during the Taisho era, so it's a perfect inn for those who love old folk houses. The name Seikoen is said to be the name of an inn that was previously in operation. As of 2024, one night stay includes breakfast and no dinner. There are already many photos of the building, so I will upload the details.

I had the valuable experience of enjoying meals, relaxing, and staying at a [modern architecture that is a nationally registered cultural property] that you would normally not be able to do more than just take a tour.If you like modern architecture and art museums, this is a highly recommended accommodation. After checking in, the curator explained the history and architecture of the inn. Not only the detailed design of each fitting, but also the many works of art such as Takeuchi Seiho's paintings and Doi Bansui's calligraphy are worth seeing. This time, since I was staying in August, I was grateful for their thoughtfulness in terms of hospitality, such as arranging for me to take a bath earlier than originally scheduled. The quality and quantity of the food was also very satisfying.

In addition to the value of the building, the composition of the food and the customer service are wonderful. I stayed there during the winter, and although it was an old house, it was well heated. I don't feel cold.

The historic building is family-run and carefully preserved. I myself grew up in a house like this until I was in elementary school, so I felt a sense of nostalgia. It is not suitable for those looking for modern facilities, but perfect for those looking for a nostalgic atmosphere. The food and hospitality were wonderful, and I was able to bathe in the hot springs multiple times, making it a truly relaxing space for me.

The inn felt more like visiting a friend's house and staying the night than staying at a ryokan. It's a place I would like to visit again.

City apologizes to Kaoru Inoue's former villa without evidenceNovember 11th 12:29The city announced that there was no basis for the explanation that the building in Atami City, which is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, was the former villa of Kaoru Inoue, who made great achievements during the Meiji Restoration. I sincerely apologize."The Atami Villa of the Former Marquis Inoue, a nationally registered tangible cultural property located in Izumi, Atami City, was built as a villa for Kaoru Inoue, who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs after the Meiji Restoration. At the first public open house held in conjunction with the event, materials with the same explanation were distributed to the press. However, when I later applied for registration as a tangible cultural property, I checked the documents submitted to the Agency for Cultural Affairs and found that it was stated that the building was built in the early Showa period, even though Kaoru Inoue died in the Taisho period. In addition to this, his relationship with Kaoru Inoue was also unclear. The city has explained the circumstances to the Agency for Cultural Affairs through the prefecture and is considering future responses. The city commented, ``We deeply apologize for the misleading description in the explanatory materials distributed at the event. In the future, we will create materials based on historical facts and be careful not to cause misunderstandings.''
