12/10 Recommend for a Peaceful and Delicious Stay! Our experience at Gran Terrace Le Lien was exceptional, and we wholeheartedly recommend it for anyone seeking a tranquil and well-fed retreat in Japan. From the moment we arrived, Phuong greeted us with warm hospitality—starting with tea, a light dessert, and the opportunity to select our preferred times for dinner and breakfast. The level of accommodation made us feel completely spoiled, especially after a few bustling days spent in central Tokyo.LocationThe ryokan’s location is incredibly convenient, situated right by a bus stop, making it easy to reach Odawara Station. It’s also just a five-minute walk to the Sounzan stop on the Hakone Ropeway, perfect for day trips. We enjoyed excursions to Lake Ashi and explored Gora during our stay.Room and ComfortWe stayed in a Western-style room, which was very comfortable for our three-night stay. While Japanese tatami rooms were available, we appreciated having a mattress to accommodate our Western preferences. The serene views from the room, overlooking the mountains and sky, were stunning.DiningCome hungry!!!! The food was simply incredible. The intimate setting made it feel like Chef Takayuki Imada was our personal chef, crafting every dish with impressive creativity and care. Each course of the kaiseki meal was beautifully plated, with a wide variety of fresh vegetables and proteins, prepared to perfection. Hats off to Phuong and Chef Imada —it was an unforgettable dining experience every breakfast and dinner for the three nights we stayed. Every day was a different multi course menu, we are so grateful for all your hard work.OnsenA big part of why we chose to stay in Hakone was for the natural spring onsens powered by the local volcano. This ryokan features two private onsen rooms available for unlimited use on a first-come, first-served basis to guests. One was lukewarm and the other was piping hot, providing a wonderful balance. We enjoyed the luxurious feeling of having these onsens almost to ourselves, enhancing the peacefulness of our stay.ServicePhuong, the owner, was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, adding special touches that made our honeymoon stay feel extra special. Every detail was taken care of, and we truly felt like royalty during our time here.Thank you, Phuong, for making our stay in Hakone such a memorable and relaxing experience. We can’t wait to return and send all our friends here!!!

We are there right now, it is really the best place to stay in Gora. The owner super friendly and accommodating. The price includes two private onsens, a warm and a hot onsen. To get to the hotel, get off at Souzan station and walk for about 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, there would also be a bus, but we didn't try that. Japanese-style rooms as well as modern rooms are available.

It didn't feel like a local product that allowed you to enjoy the goodness of the area, and I didn't feel that much attention was paid to the setting. Unfortunately, I don't think you can get an experience that is worth the price.

We came to Hakone for an intended week of pure relaxation. Upon reaching the place we are so delighted that we found a great place to stay! From the registration it shows its unique way of homely like accommodation enjoying the welcoming refreshment while they took care of our stuffs to the room and orienting us of the place. We were almost tempted to jump into the “onsen”, but took our time enjoying our every visit to the pool with its volcanic heated water! The view from our room is magnificent! There was no boring moment when typhoon Ampil passed-by in full view from our wide glass bedroom window! We just missed the beautiful dear that broke-into the garden one night, just below the terrace from our room! The picture of it shown to us in the morning suggested it would be a sight to behold. The daily breakfast with a wonderfully creative and artistic Japanese chef makes each day of our stay fully energised! No breakfast is the same for the entire week we stayed. We truly appreciate each masterpiece that the chef created for our gastronomy. The traditional Japanese breakfast sets a high bar for us, we can truly say “Oishi dekka desu”! Anh & Phuong are truly remarkable for making our stay memorable. We thought that they own the place, by the way they took care of it and every guest including us. It was indeed a week well spent in the Mountains of Hakone! We can’t wait to be back.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in a Japanese style room. The hosts Anh and Phuong were wonderful, they prepared a welcome drink & snack and helped us with our bags. They greeted us warmly everytime we entered or left during our stay. The baths were private equipped with soaps and skin care and a great view of the valley. Our toddler really enjoyed the experience. Would stay again!

We visited in Nov 2022 and it was amazing! It's a short walk on a steep slope to the hotel but you'll be rewarded with the best view :)We had a 2yo toddler and the owner was very accommodating and always smiling. They had kids friendly tableware and games to keep him occupied. As a ryokan style hotel, his running steps echoed through the hallway - we apologise for the disturbance 😔The food was delightful in taste and aesthetics. The ambience was perfect and my toddler sat through the long meal w/o a fuss.I really love the rustic decor. And the owner's passion really shine through in every details from the moment we entered.

Our stay here was amazing! The mountain views were astonishing. Our room was very clean and Japanese-style tatami. We were offered mattresses, but opted for the traditional futon (which was great!). Our hosts, Anh and Phuong, were also very attentative and helpful. Not to mention, the natural onsen was perfect after a long day outside.Keep in mind that you should stock up on supplies from a convenience store, as it is quite a hike from the hotel. That being said, it's a short distance from the cable cars!Thank you so much for an incredible experience in Hakone!
