We were so happy to have chosen Mume for our brief stop in Kyoto. I had seen photos of the Butterfly room when researching hotels and was happy that it was available. The ambiance of the room, and the hotel was perfect.Everything about the hotel is exceptional. We have never experienced the level of courtesy and attentiveness in our many years of traveling.Every hotel in the future will be measured against this one.We had already decided to return to Japan, and this stay made that decision easier.Thank you for a fantastic experience.

Very fun hotel. Rooms are great - hotel is cozy and boutique with only a small number of rooms available leaving you with a familiar feeling and allows staff to know you during your stay. The main draw of the hotel is this - the staff. The hospitality is unmatched, and the owner and her team are without doubt the most hospitable people I have ever met. They provide great recommendations, make sure you know exactly what you are doing to maximise time and do everything to guarantee you have a perfect stay, with very bespoke service. Examples include staff knowing exactly what you are up to every day and asking how you are and how it went as soon as you come back. An extra plus is the 'happy hour' of free drinks that you have from 5-7pm, where everyone from the hotel comes down to the bar before heading out to dinner. It is a great way to meet people and chat before having a lovely evening in Kyoto. I would absolutely recommend Mume, come if you want to have a great time in Kyoto.

EXCEPTIONAL hotel! We are looking forward to returning to Kyoto, and we would undoubtedly stay at Mume. We stayed for 5 nights and had the HIGHEST quality of service provided by the staff, HIGHEST level of courtesy and HIGHEST attentiveness that we have ever experienced. The hospitality is unmatched, a special recognition to Ms. Hisako, Hikaru, Nana and Matt. The whole team consistently exceeded our expectations. The staff is extremely helpful and highly knowledgeable. We received their help from the moment we made our reservation, this was almost 3 months before our trip. They provided great recommendations, from landmarks and activities in the city, to the best restaurants in which they do the impossible for getting you a reservation. Also, the staff knew exactly what we were up to every day and asked how it went as soon as we came back, and if there was anything they could do to help for the next days. The hotel location is highly advantageous. It was the best hotel we stayed in during our 2 week trip in Japan. Everything about Mume is exceptional!!!

I first heard of Hotel Mume as an internet whisper with some people rating it the best hotel they had ever experienced. It captured my interest and I checked it out, thinking that it would be totally out of my price range.  …

We stayed for six nights in the 'Wind' room, which was exceptionally spacious, particularly by the standards of Japanese hotels, and benefited from ample natural light. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room maintained a peaceful atmosphere. Additionally, the hotel's location is highly advantageous. What truly distinguished this hotel, however, was the exceptional quality of service provided by the staff. Having traveled extensively, I can confidently assert that this is the finest hotel we have experienced in terms of service. Ms. Hisako and her team consistently exceeded expectations, creating an atmosphere that felt more like staying in a friend’s luxurious home than in a traditional hotel room.I would like to extend special recognition to Hikaru and Nana for their outstanding service. We look forward to returning in the future.
