Booked this hotel on Agoda. The price is affordable, and its closeness to Gion district is the big selling point. We mostly spent time outside and needed a place to sleep, take bath... This hostel is a good fitThe room is on the second floor, so we had to carry our heavy luggages up the stair case. The room is quite small. Bathroom, washing machine is on another floor. The staffs are nice, friendly and attentive. Wish you all healthy!

Stayed here in April 2023It was a great place with clean dorm rooms and nice staff. Close to Gion for some nice walks and close to public transport. The ground floor is a sake bar and the door next to it is the entrance to the hostel.Would stay here again.

Walked in to enjoy the sake bar, had a wonderful conversation with the wife (of the couple who owned the hotel), and had some great sake as well

Very rude and racist staff. Please don’t go here. We were greeted with a ‘what are you doing here? You didn’t book a room’ while in fact we did. More weird things happened during our stay and she changed the lock while our bags were still inside, really weird experience.

I am reviewing the sake bar, as I never stayed at this place: Went with a group of friends to do some sake tasting. The service was pretty average. There was no music going on, so the ambiance was pretty quiet. My favorite part about this experience was that they had sakes from different regions, and they all tasted differently. The flights were between 1200-2400 and there was no way to know how much they charged for each flight before hand or afterwards, as we were never offered an itemized receipt. When I asked about what decides the price of the flight, the lady running the bar said that it depends what sakes they pour you, but she decides what they pour for you, so that was a bit confusing. It’s affordable in any situation, so I give it a thumbs up.

The location of the hostel is very good and the staff is very helpful. You can use the bar very nicely. Toilets are clean. The rooms and beds could be better.

Aiko, Michi and the staff have a deep knowledge of sake. Great for sake beginners and anyone who wants to discover their new favorite bottle. There is a nice rotating menu of lovely small snacks to accompany; don't arrive starving, but even if you come after dinner nearby, have something tasty to bring out the depth of unami and complex flavours. Don't know what to choose? Ask for a recommendation (おすすめ、oh-sue-sue-meh) and / or a tasting flight!
