Kobako guest house was the first place I stayed on a 2 week trip to Japan. It was the perfect place to get my trip started. I don't speak Japanese, but staying here got me connected. Yuki-san is a super thoughtful and considerate host. She lives next door and manages the guest house full time, so if you need anything, she'll do her best to make sure you're taken care of. I made friends with other people staying in the guest house and we are still in touch after I've moved on. Yuki and other guests helped me navigate around kyoto with ease, and the house felt like home when I returned each day. It is in a very walkable part of town. It's quiet and relaxing there, but you can get into lots of interesting adventure by walking, using the free bikes at the guest house, or by a bus nearby. The place is clean and well taken care of. We cooked dinner and ate together on several occasions. I can't wait to come back to kyoto and visit my new friends that I made here.

A guest house located 3 minutes walk from Heian Shrine.Get off at Okazaki Park (in front of the zoo) and walk for a few minutes to get there.Even though it's a guest house, there were a lot of things I was really happy about, such as toothbrushes, towels, makeup remover, hair dryer, coffee, bicycles (about 27 inch mamachari!) that I could borrow for free, and the refrigerator to use. It's easy to get in and out, and each room has its own lock. She told me about delicious restaurants and public baths nearby, and I enjoyed that as well.We are renovating an old private house from 100 years ago.It would be really cold without the heating on, but I was surprised at how comfortable I was because I could turn on the air conditioner and the futon was incredibly warm! They had set up an electric blanket for me, but it was strange how warm it was even without it. I slept soundly!Overall, the cost performance was very good...I would like to stay there again in the spring or summer, and next time I would like to come with friends.

This was my first time using the service, and even though I arrived late, I was treated kindly. The rooms are also clean. I was surprised to see Kansai Bijutsuin in front of me.
