Excellent. I have spent at Metropolitan Fukujusou almost four months and I am looking forward to stay here again in the future. The house - old machiya - is compact, simple, yet very clean and charming. The rooms upstair are bright and have a very good air circulation - a crutial aspect during the hot and humid summers in Kyoto. The location is superb: a short walk to Nanzenji, Philosopher's Path, Heian Shrine and the major museum. The immediate neighbourhood is charming: small houses along narrow lanes. It is quiet, safe and peaceful. Taka is a very helpful, welcoming and thoughtful host. Fukujusou is also renovating a huge studio/atelier close to the house. The studio has two floors, is bright and spacious - it could also double as an exhibition space.

At first attracted by the antique appearance of Fu Shouzhuang, I immediately made a reservation. After staying for a few nights, it really felt like a 200-year-old Japanese-style house! TaKa-san is also a very attentive landlord. He tidies the house carefully every day. He is also a lovely person. You can feel it from the conversation with him! Highly recommended!
