I had a tremendous experience at Takinoya Bekkan. The food is divine and I will think about it for a long time. I mean it. It is not only Japanese traditional food. It's a high level cooking style with subtleties and lots of work. The baths are good and the employees are very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend to have a stay here.

There is no shower in the room. The service is unfriendly. It is not worth the money. However, the hotel's location is excellent.1. Please note that there is no shower in the room.2. Previous reviews mentioned that the staff are only friendly to Japanese guests, and this proved to be true. Most of our interactions were with a man who appeared to be the owner. The overall service felt more tailored to his convenience rather than catering to the guests' needs (this applies to both the facilities and services).Consequently, it was neither comfortable nor easy to approach him with any inquiries, which was quite disconcerting. The staff, apart from the man who seemed to be the owner, provided decent service but also exhibited a clear preference for Japanese guests. Could this be due to language barriers?3. Given the quality of service and facilities, a rate of USD 220 per night feels unjustified.4. When I opened the wardrobe in the room, I found disheveled bedding inside.5. The ryokan's location is excellent.

Great location. Small onsen, if you go at the right time you can be alone. The building is a bit old but everything is very clean. Very nice that the restaurant is on the second floor!

Nice cosy ryokan here in a quaint little town. The ryokan room is comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast course are nice. The onsen is also small but fantastic to use. Beautiful place!

Excellent ryokan, kaiseki dinner and breakfast are superb. The onsen is not big, it has one outdoor and one indoor pool, as well as a private pool (for which you pay extra). The rooms are spacious (Japanese and Western style). A nice, traditional ryokan in the center of Noburibetsu onsen.

We wanted to go to Japanese onsen during our Hokkaido trip and chose this ryokan in Noboribetsu. It was beautifully decorated and had amazing food. Both the public and private onsen were very clean and wonderful to relax in.

Good boutique onsen hotel with onsen that does not discriminate tattoos. Food here is specially prepared and different daily. The meals are abundant and traditional. Room is a little bit too small but the bed and pillow are comfortable. Service is awesome.

My partner and I stayed in a traditional style Japanese room (ryokan) for 2 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed the stay. There was so much space on the floor. The stay we booked also included breakfast and dinner, even though the rooms are very average, the Kaiseki food was AMAZING.PROS:- Kaiseki breakfast and dinner, highlights of our stay in Noboribetsu- Big spacious rooms- Small communal (male/female) natural onsen which was very nice and relaxing after a long day (rich in sulphur, which smells a bit like farts-had to add that in the review as this is something I learnt ><), I believe you can also pay extra to book a private onsen- staff were very welcoming and friendly- hotel was well run and well organised-location was in the centre of the town, also close to a very yummy soba shop run by a few older women (a few doors down, as recommended by the hotel host)Maybe CONS:- We did not have an issue with this, but there is no shower in the rooms, as it is encouraged to use the communal bath (which is sooo nice anyway)- staff had limited EnglishOverall: 9.5/10We highly recommend this stay. It was our most relaxing stay on our 4 week holiday in Japan.

Pros:- very good service. One of the staff helped us take our bags down and there was this small sized female staff who carried our big backpacks (we felt guilty and also grateful) when we first checked in. All the staff were nice and responsive.- private onsen was nice. Could be bigger size but overall the experience was good- good fish served during our meals. Very yummy- parking also freeCons:- nothing much, just wished there was a shower in the rooms as well in case rather than just a public shower on the ground floor

Traditional small Ryokan which, given the massive hotels in the town, was a good choice. Half board package cost circa £200. Excellent English spoken on reception by a chap who spent time in the UK. …
